Introduction

Regular is a type of Normal game, introduced in the October 2023 Normal Update on mafiascum.net. Regular games are intended to provide an experience of a normal Mafia game with a wider range of roles and modifiers than Simple games, allowing for a more varied experience, while also avoiding excessive complexity or experimental roles. This type of game is suitable for new players, although it may require more mechanical knowledge than Simple games. Please use this page to learn what is and is not allowed in Regular games.

Roles

  • Regular Games may only use the roles and modifiers listed above.
    • Roles may not be hybrid, but players can have one passive role in addition to their active role - for example, Doctor Neighbor or Ascetic Cop. In Regular Games, many players should be Vanilla Townies - although there is not a hard floor here - and non-Vanilla roles must have one role and a maximum of two modifiers.
    • Vigilantes are not allowed in Micro games.
    • No third parties, including Serial Killers, and no multiball (multiple Mafia factions) in Micro or Mini games. These are allowed in Large games, but must be announced in signups.
    • Flavor should not impact gameplay.
    • Games which technically follow Regular rules may still be more suited to a different Compartment or Queue. For example, if reviewers feel that a game does not meet their standards of what should be considered Regular, they may change the game to be Complex.

Prior to running, all Normal Games are subject to a mandatory review by the Normal Review Group. To learn more about this process, visit this page.

Regular Games must follow all rules of Normal Games.

Setup Rules

    • Flips do not reveal private information, such as Mafia partners or investigation results.
    • Roles may not self-target, including roles like Doctor.

Games may be of any size or faction ratio, but it must be balanced as judged by reviewers.
