She emerged from the depths of that time period only partially formed, with her memories hazy. For her missing limb, she obtained a mechanical replacement: a vacuum arm. For her identity, service to Lord Mith and a loyalty to the ScumChat of that era. ScumChat was a wilder place then, rumored to actually host mafia games sometimes. Ether definitely has no regrets about her miniondom, {{plink|t|8062|none at all}}.
Sophie "Ether" Lastnamewithheld used to text roleplay when she was a wee net-rat. Then she read fanfiction. Then she joined a fan-based forum and text roleplayed a bit there. She first played mafia online when it was introduced to that forum in a messy, messy form. Ether was fascinated by the game and discovered 'Scum on its Wikipedia entry. She lurked without an account for a bit, left for summer camp for three weeks, then joined upon her return on July 24, 2006.
 
Ether quickly attained fame as a ScumChatter with healthy levels of sanity, maturity and libido. There was this awesome Momir game where she blatantly speedlynched [[Skruffs]] ''twice'' as a [[serial killer]] for the win. Her uPick games take a ridiculously long time to prepare. Her ScumChat visits are much less frequent nowadays, but she's usually on AIM at CaffieneDeity to talk theory or mod a game.
 
On the forum scene, Ether steadily became lurkier and lurkier, and eventually flaked from the site entirely in early May 2007 without a word. She returned on July 26th, and insists that anything earlier than that is not canon. (Except possibly [http://www.mafiascum.net/archive/viewtopic.php?t=3757 Newbie 259], an ironic origin story. She's never scum anymore, which is good because her town play is noticeably more active and enjoyable for everyone involved.) After playing reliably for about a year, Ether has polarized into an unstable lurkerspammer. She perceives no in between, even if you do, and it's easy for her to get into a cycle of lurking if she ever slows down. She should get over this.


Ether has attended three 'Scum meets so far: [[Starkadium]] and Yosarian's Parents' BeachBam in 2008, and Yosarian's Parents' BeachBash in 2009. She mostly sings karaoke and sleeps.
She flourished as a ScumChatter then, but she was troubled. Her playstyle was marred by constant lurking, and the guilt that followed. Those traits never really went away, although the lurking is much less common now. Her alignment is going to be completely obvious, because she is terrible scum. Ether is now a manic-depressive lunatic who cracks if she ever slows down, and she would like to lead your town.

Ether has helped shape the site as you know it! She is pretty sure hydras are at least partially her fault, although she doesn't have the logs to prove this anymore. Mafia [[Encryptor|encryptors]] are hers. [[Neapolitan|Neapolitans]] are on the normal whitelist thanks to her, and you should use a ton of them. They're really cool.
Ether does not have a conventional left arm. It was removed in a surgery which replaced it with a vacuum cleaner. (Chainsaw arms, alas, require a license.) This is how she eats so quickly. Her unique appendage can also equip some accessories which human arms can't: most notably, she can equip [[Glork]] at will to redirect his deadly glorking abilities.


Ether is not a nun. She is not Angelina Jolie. Her screen name is not obscene and should not require the use of asterisks. She does not live in Middlesex. She is not 26, but she ''is'' at an age where she enjoys being told that she gives off 26-vibes.
Speaking of that, Ether is the weird grandmother of the [[Normal Game Review Group]]. She didn't last long officially reviewing every single normal game, but she did keep going just long enough to convince the site that it needed to keep that position filled, with or without her. She has recently joined the NRG in its modern form, and like a good grandmother she is here to shower it with affection, junk food and immaculate reviews. These reviews are probably a little more townsided than you're used to, but in her defense, towns are really stupid and we don't give the scum nearly enough credit.


Ether is a Mith minion. This loyalty has cost her; the [[petroleumjelly|Council]] [[Fritzler|of]] [[Glork|ScumChat]] expelled her from the clique for fear that she was a cultist. She insists that she has a dual win condition, but admits that there are some [http://www.mafiascum.net/archive/viewtopic.php?t=8062 drawbacks] to this.
