DISCLAIMER: These are merely proposed guidelines. See Normal Game for the current rules. And see here for discussion
All Normal Games must follow the following rules:
- The setting of a normal game should be Mafia, Werewolf or face-to-face related. Even flavor text should not be based on any book, movie, song, time period, etc.
- There should be at least one scum faction. In a Mini-Normal, there should be no more than two scum factions. SKs count as a scum faction.
- A Normal game does not have to include any other roles than Mafia and Townies
- In general, Normal games should include plain Townies. Don't overuse roles just to make your game more interesting (it probably won't make it more interesting anyway, just unbalanced.)
- Normal games may use slight deviations in mechanics such that it does not make it into a Theme game (e.g. Doctor may self protect, Nightless, Mafia may day talk, etc.). Most changes should be announced before the game begins.
- Normal games may include any of the following roles:
- "Basic" Roles
- Cop (confirmed sanity or unconfirmed (sane, insane, paranoid, naive))
- Doctor (sane)
- Vigilante
- Tracker
- Watcher
- Miller
- Jail Keeper
- Mason (confirmed alignment)
- Bodyguard
- Townie
- Roleblocker
- Godfather
- Role Cop
- Goon
- Bulletproof
- Traitor
- Serial Killer
- A backup for any of the above roles (e.g. Nurse, Deputy, etc.) It is not necessary for there to be an active role to have a backup.
- "Advanced" Roles" (use sparingly and carefully, and have a good reason for using any of them)
- Double Voter
- Macho Cop
- Hider
- Psychiatrist / Psychopath
- Neighbor (unconfirmed alignment)
- Best Friends
- Cult Leader
- Super Saint
- Siblings
- Survivor
- Coward
- Bus Driver
- Redirector
- Paranoid Gun Owner
- Gunsmith
- Super Backup (aka Universal Backup)
- Jack of All Trades (including only powers available to basic roles)
- "Basic" Roles
- Other (new or otherwise) roles may be included. However, there should be no more than 1 of these in a Mini and no more than 2 of these in a Large, and they should be based around the usual game mechanics: Killing, Protecting, Investigating, Voting.
- Roles may be restricted further (e.g. "There will be no cult in this game")
- Common variations to roles are acceptable, including making typically town roles mafia (e.g. Mafia Tracker) and vice versa.
