Princess Bride Mafia was a themed mafiascum game played in the Theme Park forum. It lasted from July 30, 2003 until October 20, 2003 (82 days, 4 hours, and 36 minutes) and featured a total of 800 posts. The Town won this game.

Westley
You are Westley. You are trying to find Miracle Max by checking one person nightly (even if you’re already dead). If you locate him while he still lives, you will receive a miracle pill (with chocolate coating, to make it go down easier), which will be used to revive you if you should need it. If you do not locate Miracle Max on nights one or two, you may investigate two people on nights three and four – then back to one person nightly for the remainder of the game.

You win once all evil elements have been cast out of Florin

To be sent to Westley if he’s found by Buttercup: You have been reunited with you true love, Buttercup, and you are now free to speak to her at night. You have the nightly option to protect Buttercup; if you make this choice and she is targeted, you will die in her stead (unless someone protects you).

To be sent to Westley after he’s been brought back to life: Miracle Max’s pill resurrected you! However, you are in a weakened state, leaving you unable to vote today. You may talk as much as you want, though.

Buttercup
You are Buttercup. You long to see your sweet Westley again! By mentioning the full name of a player (no abbreviations) in the same post in which you use the word “love,” you may check that person at night to see if he is your beloved Westley (up to two people nightly). If you fulfill the posting requirement for more than two players, you must choose which to investigate from among them. If you locate him, you will become a mason group and be able to talk with him at night. clarification addendum: you will be unable to search for Westley on night 1

You win once all evil elements have been cast out of Florin

To be sent to Buttercup once Westley is found: You have been reunited with you true love, Westley, and you are now free to speak to him at night. Westley has been given the nightly option to protect you; if he makes this choice and you are targeted, he will die in your stead (unless someone protects him).

Inigo Montoya
You are Inigo Montoya. You are searching for the six-fingered man. By mentioning the full name of a player (no abbreviations) at least eleven times during the course of a game day, you will be able to count his fingers the following night (up to two players for nights two & three, one player nightly thereafter). If you’ve fulfilled the requirements for more than two players, you must choose which to investigate from among them. You will, of course, be unable to use your investigative ability night one. For subsequent nights, the deadline for night choices will be stated in the thread. If you do not submit a choice by the stated deadline, you forfeit your investigation.

You are also a one-slash vigilante, able to target someone with your sword once during the game. You may use this ability by PMing me during any night phase with your target.

You are Fezzik. You like to rhyme! You must rhyme with quotes (using the quote box) from others at least 2 times, in two separate posts daily. Until your two-rhyme requirement is met, you may not vote. Examples of proper rhyming:

Restrictions: You may not explain what you are doing nor can you mention the words “poem” or “rhyme” or any variations thereof – I’ll let you know if you’re on thin ice. If you break these restrictions, or if you lodge a vote before your requirement is filled, you will be lynchable with only half the votes required.

Bonus: If you manage to rhyme 5 times throughout the course of a day, you will win the use of a Holocaust cloak for that night. The holocaust cloak can be used to protect a player of your choice or, once during the game, yourself.

Luckily, you were up to the challenge and have brought him back to the land of the living with your chocolate-covered miracle pill. Way to go! Too bad that making that pill has used up all the skill you had. You no longer have the power to protect, though you still play for a Florin win.

Valerie
You are Valerie, witch…er…wife of Miracle Max. Right now you’re pretty much just around to make Max look authentic. I’ll let you know if that changes.

To be sent to Val once MM is dead/retired: Miracle Max has retired/died. You’ve been watching him long enough to take over his business without missing a beat. Nightly, you may select one person to protect from bodily harm. You may elect to protect yourself only once during the rest of the game.

Grandpa
You are Grandpa. You’ve read The Princess Bride so many times that you know every character through and through. Nightly, you may check one player of your choice and get a result of “pro-town” or “anti-town.”

Nightly you will choose a person to investigate – with your wits on the case, their secrets will be exposed in the form of “evil” or “good.” Because you love bragging about your superior intellect, you will share your investigation with another player. Submit the names of three players of your choice, and I will use a random method of choosing from the three. That person will receive the name of the player investigated and the result of the investigation – neither you nor your role will be mentioned to the receiver.

The King
You are The King. Because you’re not quite as sharp as you used to be, people tend to forget that you’re not just a figurehead and do indeed still wield some power.

Dread Pirate Roberts III
You are The Dread Pirate Roberts. You used to leave no survivors, but ever since you met that Westley fellow and let him live, you’ve given up swashbuckling for the quieter life of the vigilante. Nightly, you can choose to target a person, as long as you’ve FOSed that person in the thread at least two times, in two separate posts. If you’ve fulfilled the requirements on more than one player, you must choose which to target. You will, of course, be unable to use your vigilante ability night one. For subsequent nights, the deadline for choices will be stated in the thread. If you do not submit a choice by the stated deadline, your choice is forfeit.

ROUS
You are a Rodent of Unusual Size (ROUS). You may bite a player at night if you have directly followed that player’s posts with one of own at least three times during the previous day (a player posting less than three times in a game day is safe from being bitten). If you have managed to fulfill the requirements for more than one player, you must choose the victim from among them. Most victims will die outright. There are some, however, who have been exposed to Rodent cooties all their lives. A bite will transform them into an ROUS rather than killing them. If you transform a player, they will learn your identity and work toward an ROUS win with you. You will remain the sole recruiter, however. If you die, no new blood will be brought in. You will, of course, be unable to use your ability night one. For subsequent nights, the deadline for choices will be stated in the thread. If you do not submit a choice by the stated deadline, your choice is forfeit. You are protected from being night-killed tonight only, as compensation for not being able to bite anyone. Mid-game, the role was amended as it became apparent to me that the conditions made it near impossible to choose a victim - rather he was forced to just settle for whomever could be caught. Amendments were that he only had to follow two posts (rather than three) and that if less than half of the players alive made multiple posts on any game day, he was free to pick from among all players whom to bite.

Mod notes: Florin peasants transform immediately, non-peasants protected by a doctor will transform the following night; unprotected non-peasants die immediately. Evidence of a bite will be noted in all instances (death, protection, and recruitment).

Prince Humperdinck
You, Count Rugen, and the Albino form the mafia group in Florin. Nightly, you will confer with the others and make a decision on whom to target. It is your job to make the final decision if a consensus cannot be reached and to send the target’s name to me. All three of you appear guilty when investigated. The Albino is a doctor.

Once during the course of the game, you may choose to block a lynch. PM me during the day, before the death scene is posted, and the life will be spared (even your own). The day will end as usual and no one will be told who/what prevented the death.

You win if at least one of your team is the last standing

Count Rugen, the six-fingered man
You, Prince Humperdinck, and the Albino form the mafia group in Florin. Nightly, you will confer with the others and make a decision on whom to target. It is Humperdinck’s job to make the final decision if a consensus cannot be reached and to send the target’s name to me. As second-in-command, if the Prince is killed, the decision-making and communication responsibilities fall to you. All three of you appear guilty when investigated. The Albino is a doctor and Humperdinck can block one lynch.

You win if at least one of your team is the last standing

The Albino
You, Prince Humperdinck, and Count Rugen form the mafia group in Florin. Nightly, you will confer with the others and make a decision on whom to target. It is Humperdinck’s job to make the final decision if a consensus cannot be reached and to send the target’s name to me. As low man on the three-man pole, the only way you’re gonna be making the decisions is if the other two members of your crew are killed – and that wouldn’t be a good thing. All three of you appear guilty when investigated. Humperdinck can block one lynch.

You also have standard doctor abilities. Nightly, you may choose one player to protect from bodily harm (you may elect to protect yourself no more than twice throughout the course of the game).

Florin Peasant(x5)
You are a Florin townsperson. You’re nothing special (except in that trite “but everyone’s special” way) and you’re not too clean, but you love your country.

To be sent to a peasant bitten by the ROUS Recruiter: You’ve been bitten by Dourgrim, a Rodent of Unusual Size! Because you’re a tough peasant, the bite hasn’t killed you, but it has transformed you into an ROUS. Nightly you will discuss with the ROUS community (currently players) whom to target – choice is limited to Dourgrim’s posting criteria. If a consensus cannot be reached, Dourgrim, the original ROUS, makes the final decision and sends the choice to me. Dourgrim is the sole recruiter – if he dies, all future bites will be fatal with no one else being recruited.

Your win criteria has changed: you now win if at least one ROUS is the last standing

To be sent to a non-peasant transformed by the ROUS Recruiter: You’ve been bitten by Dourgrim, a Rodent of Unusual Size! Because you were protected when it happened (night #), the infection didn’t kill you outright, but instead took 24 hours to spread through your system – you have been transformed into an ROUS and no longer retain the abilities (if any) of your former identity. Nightly you will discuss with the ROUS community (currently players) whom to target – choice is limited to Dourgrim’s posting criteria. If a consensus cannot be reached, Dourgrim, the original ROUS, makes the final decision and sends the choice to me. Dourgrim is the sole recruiter – if he dies, all future bites will be fatal with no one else being recruited.

Day/Night 1

Day 1 ended with no lynch.

Someone was the subject of an early bandwagon due to his unfamiliarity with the theme, so he was forced to claim Florin townsperson to save his neck. Sugar also claimed, noting that Someone's claimed lacked the official title, which she implored to be kept secret. massive was the target of a second bandwagon, but successfully argued his way down. The game meandered a bit until Dourgrim pushed for a Leonidas lynch. Leonidas fakeclaimed the Clergyman and revealed that he could stop a lynch once per game. The town mostly believed it and bandwagoned mole until Dragon Phoenix came out and stated that he had a cop-like role and he had a guilty on Leonidas.

Day/Night 2

Day 2 ended with the lynching of CRiX, a mafia goon.

Dragon Phoenix made forward with his full role claim (Grandpa) and worried about his sanity since he got 2 scum in a row. The town decided it was a reasonable role claim and argued about whether or not to test his sanity by lynching mlaker. Meanwhile Dourgrim and Someone had a bit of an argument and mlaker tried to side with Someone. Dourgrim out-argued mlaker and helped gather enough votes for a roleclaim. mlaker fakeclaimed "Ancient Boo-er", but his described abilities (must RB Buttercup to gain cop powers) left the town scratching their heads. He was soon lynched.

Day 3 ended with the lynching of Leonidas (Prince Humperdinck), a mafia governor.

Dragon Phoenix confirmed that he wasn't a paranoid cop and landing an innocent investigation. The lynching of Leonidas went through pretty smoothly.

Night 3 ended with the reveal that no one died. However, Someone had a nasty leg wound.

Night 3 lasted 2 days, 11 hours, and 15 minutes.

Day/Night 4

Day 4 ended with the lynching of Werebear (The Albino), a mafia doctor.

On Day 4, the town decided to pool it's information together and do some mass claiming. massive claimed Fezzik. Norinel claimed Westley. Fishbulb/CRiX claimed The King. Rite claimed Vizzini and that he was the one who sent out investigations that others recieved. Both Dourgrim and Werebear took a stand on not roleclaiming and both hinted at secret powers. Dourgrim argued his case strongly while Werebear was suspiciously absent and thus was the lynch at deadline.

Night 4 ended with the reveal that no one died. However, at the end of the day, MeMe stated she forgot to reveal that Talitha had a nasty leg wound.

Day/Night 5

Day 5 ended with the lynching of Dourgrim (ROUS), a cult recruiter.

Dourgrim tried to claim the Boy's Mother, but Talitha, mole, and rite stated that they found him guilty. He was quickly lynched.

Day/Night 6

Day 6 ended with the lynching of rite (Vizzini), a cop.

With no night-kills, the town started to grow furstrated and paranoid. rite, one of their investigators, became a strong suspect due to his role claim of Vezzini. Fishbulb suspected himself as a double-voter and hammered to prove it.

Night 6 ended with the reveal that mathcam (Inigo Montoya), a flavor cop/1-shot vig, died.

Night 6 lasted 2 days, 10 hours, and 2 minutes.

Day 7 ended with the lynching of Someone (ROUS), a cult recruited serial killer.

With a new ROUS-style death, the town realizes that the mafia are probably dead and that they are dealing with a ROUS cult. Various theories about the time-lines of bites/deaths/recruits are made. massive explains Fezzik's abilities in detail and makes the argument to lynch Someone which is heartily agreed to.

Day 8

Day 8 ended with the lynching of Talitha (ROUS), a cult recruited serial killer.

This day centered aronud vrious competiting theories of what the mechanics of the ROUS are. Did they start as ROUS or were they recruited? Do the bites men recruitment? Who can get recruited? Is there a time delay? None of the info seemed to match up to any conrete theory. But Talitha's leg wound make her a likely culprit for a ROUS recruit and she is lynched to end the game.
