Evident is a modifier that causes the fact that your target was targeted with your role to be posted by the moderator for all to see. In effect, an Evident role's targets are public knowledge.

Standard version

An Evident role causes the moderator to post that your target was targeted by your role.

An Evident Doctor would have "{player} was targeted by a Doctor" posted by the moderator for example.

Other modifiers would typically be commented out, e.g. a 1-shot Evident Cop has the message of "{player} was targeted by a Cop", though an Evident Combined Fruit Vendor Neighborizer has two messages (typically in one post), one of "{player} was targeted by a Fruit Vendor" and the other being "{player} was targeted by a Neighborizer".

Variations

Evident may cause the entire role to be posted, including the Evident modifier and any unrelated actions.

Announcing is similar to Evident in that it informs someone about being targeted by a role, though Announcing only informs their target.

Conspicuous causes the fact you targeted your target to be revealed.

The Publishing modifier causes results to be posted by the moderator for all to see.

Sample Role PMs

The standardized Role PM for "Evident" describes the modifier as follows:

  • As a modifier on a single ability: The fact your target was targeted by this action will be revealed in the game thread (but not who targeted them). (edit)
  • As a modifier that affects all abilities: Whenever you perform a targeted action, the fact your target was targeted by the action you performed will be revealed in the game thread (but not who targeted them). (edit)

Example (modifying a single ability)

Welcome to game! You are a Town Evident Jailkeeper.

You have the following active ability:

  • Each Night, you may target a player. Assuming no interference with your action, that player will be protected from kills that night, but all their actions will be blocked that night. The fact your target was targeted by this action will be revealed in the game thread (but not who targeted them).

You win if all threats to the town are eliminated and at least one town-aligned player is alive.

Confirm by replying to this PM with a summary of your role.

Example (affecting all abilities)

Welcome to game! You are a Town Evident Jack of All Trades Tracker Doctor.

Whenever you perform a targeted action, the fact your target was targeted by the action you performed will be revealed in the game thread (but not who targeted them).

You have the following active abilities, but may use only one per Night:

  • Once in the game at night, you may target a player. Assuming no interference with your action, you will learn who that player targeted that night. (You will get "no result" if this action is blocked.)
  • Once in the game at night, you may target a player. Assuming no interference with your action, that player will be protected from one kill that night.

You win if all threats to the town are eliminated and at least one town-aligned player is alive.

Confirm by replying to this PM with a summary of your role.
