Compartment System

The Compartment System is how Normal games are currently categorized.

The three compartments are: Simple Normal, Regular Normal, and Complex Normal.

Simple Normal

Simple games are intended to provide an experience of a basic Mafia game with minimal complexity and focus on mechanical discussions. This type of game is very suitable for new players, and is also enjoyed by many more experienced players.

The intention behind the Simple Normal compartment is this:

  • Roles and modifiers which are basic and easy for new players to understand.
  • Limited role list for the purposes of simplicity.
  • A standard game which fulfills the traditional idea of a Normal game.
  • Absence of Mod WIFOM or curveballs.

Regular Normal

Regular games are intended to provide an experience of a normal Mafia game with a wider range of roles and modifiers than Simple games, allowing for a more varied experience, while also avoiding excessive complexity or experimental roles.

The intention behind the Regular Normal compartment is this:

  • Roles and modifiers which are straightforward and not too challenging for new players to understand.
  • Moderate role list to provide a Normal experience.
  • A standard game which fulfills the modern idea of a Normal game.
  • Limited Mod WIFOM or curveballs.


Complex Normal

Complex games are intended to provide an experience of a mechanically standard Mafia game with an extensive range of potential roles and modifiers, providing room for experimentation and the introduction of new roles within the confines of Normal games.

The intention behind the Complex Normal compartment is this:

  • Roles and modifiers which are fundamentally Normal.
  • Expansive role list for the purposes of creativity.
  • A more experimental game which is similar to many complex Normals ran today.
  • Mod WIFOM or curveballs should be expected.
