Scales of Justice is an Open setup not unlike Pick Your Poison, in that both factions play active roles in selecting the game's Power Roles.

It was designed by Hoopla and Quilford.

Setup

Mechanics

During the Pregame, the Mafia select one of the following roles to replace a random Goon's:

Then, during Day 0, via majority vote, all players choose which of the following roles replace two random Townies':

Roles are then distributed as necessary and play proceeds as normal.

The game is a Daystart and no actions can be submitted on the first Night (Night 0).

Role PMs

Mafia Goon

  • Welcome, [Player Name]. You are a Mafia Goon, along with your partner, [Player Name].

Abilities:

  • Factional communication: During the night phase you may talk with your partner here [QuickTopic link].
  • Factional kill: Each night phase, one of you or your partner may perform the factional kill.
  • Role selection (Mafia): During the Pregame you and your partner must choose which of the following roles will replace you or your partner's. Note that you do not choose which of the two of you receives the role.
    • Mafia Strongman: Submitting the factional kill through this player means that nothing can prevent the target's death.
    • Mafia Godfather: If investigated by a cop, this player will be revealed as Town-aligned.
    • Mafia Ninja: This player cannot be tracked or watched when submitting the factional kill.
  • Role selection (Town): During the first Day, instead of lynching, all players will vote on two roles from the following list which will replace two random townies'.
    • Cop: At night, you may learn the alignment of a player you select.
    • Tracker: At night, you may select a player. You will learn the name of the player that person targeted with an ability (if any).
    • Watcher: At night, you may select a player. You will learn the name(s) of the player(s) who targeted that person with an ability (if any).
    • Roleblocker: At night, you may disable all the active abilities of a player of your choice.
    • Doctor: At night, you may choose a player to protect from the Mafia's night kill. They are guaranteed to live through the night unless a Mafia Strongman submitted the kill on them.

Win condition:

  • You win when all members of the town have been eliminated or nothing can prevent this from occuring.


Mafia Strongman

  • Welcome, [Player Name]. You are a Mafia Strongman, along with your partner [Player Name], a Mafia Goon.

Abilities:

  • Factional communication: During the night phase you may talk with your partner here [QuickTopic link].
  • Factional kill: Each night phase, one of you or your partner may perform the factional kill.
  • Strongman kill: If you submit the factional kill, it is guaranteed to take effect.

Win condition:

  • You win when all members of the town have been eliminated or nothing can prevent this from occuring.


Mafia Godfather

  • Welcome, [Player Name]. You are a Mafia Godfather, along with your partner [Player Name], a Mafia Goon.

Abilities:

  • Factional communication: During the night phase you may talk with your partner here [QuickTopic link].
  • Factional kill: Each night phase, one of you or your partner may perform the factional kill.
  • Godfather: You will be revealed as Town-aligned to any successful cop investigation.

Win condition:

  • You win when all members of the town have been eliminated or nothing can prevent this from occuring.


Mafia Ninja

  • Welcome, [Player Name]. You are a Mafia Ninja, along with your partner [Player Name], a Mafia Goon.

Abilities:

  • Factional communication: During the night phase you may talk with your partner here [QuickTopic link].
  • Factional kill: Each night phase, one of you or your partner may perform the factional kill.
  • Ninja kill: If you submit the factional kill, it is guaranteed to be undetectable to Tracker and Watcher reports.

Win condition:

  • You win when all members of the town have been eliminated or nothing can prevent this from occuring.


Vanilla Townie

  • Welcome, [Player Name], you are a Vanilla Townie.

Abilities:

  • Your weapon is your vote, you have no night actions.
  • Role selection (Town): During the first Day, instead of lynching, all players will vote on two roles from the following list which will replace two random townies'.
    • Cop: At night, you may learn the alignment of a player you select.
    • Tracker: At night, you may select a player. You will learn the name of the player that person targeted with an ability (if any).
    • Watcher: At night, you may select a player. You will learn the name(s) of the player(s) who targeted that person with an ability (if any).
    • Roleblocker: At night, you may disable all the active abilities of a player of your choice.

Abilities:

  • Each night phase, you may select a player. You will learn the name(s) of the player(s) who targeted that person with an ability (if any).

Win condition:

  • You win when all threats to the town have been eliminated.


Town Roleblocker

  • Welcome, [Player Name], you are a Town Roleblocker.

Abilities:

  • Each night phase, you may disable all the active abilities of a player of your choice.

Town Doctor

  • Welcome, [Player Name], you are a Town Doctor.
