Keep in mind that a lot of arguments for why a certain role might be bastard are highly contextual. For instance, there are always specific situations where any role might be acceptable in a setup. Like, if you have a theme setup designed around a [[Survivor]] role, its probably okay.  Take this page with a grain of salt.

Are you modding a game? Browsing the wiki, looking for roles for your game? Well you are on the right track. You should know though, not everyone looks at game balance and game design the same way. Some people consider some roles more Bastard than others. Sometimes people feel so strongly about a particular role they will consider it Bastard while other people might consider it completely normal.

Roles which may be considered bastard by many players

Role Reasoning
Cult Difficult to balance and alignment-changing leads to a much-disdained third-party.
Death Miller An arguably overpowering form of misinformation.
False role Essentially states "Your role PM is a lie".
Hated Advances ELo by a Day and is generally not fun to play as.
Jester Considered too easy to win as and acts as a scummy miselimination.
Judas An alignment-changing role that acts as a sort of super-Traitor.
Mentor A weaker but still maligned Cult.
Saulus An alignment-changing role that is very difficult to implement soundly.
Suicidal A purely negative modifier that is guarenteed to gimp its faction.
Usurper Undermines the team aspect of the Mafia.

Roles which may be considered bastard or "bad" by some players

Role Reasoning
Actor Forced to take on all the attention of hammering; cannot have voting patterns examined.
Bus Driver Muddles up results and causes confusion on both sides (depending on implementation).
Framer Akin to scum-directed unaware Miller; guilty results tend to have much more pull than a Godfather's innocents.
Condemner Third-party role that only cares about one player and not the scum.
Post Restriction Many players simply do not like post restrictions.
Silencer It only hinders the town when it's a town role and it's not fun to play against when it's a scum role.
Survivor Generally not fun to play as.
Voteless Has no ability to (mechanically) affect the game.
Watcher Arguably stronger than Cop and Tracker and called "cheap" because of it

Keep in mind that a lot of arguments for why a certain role might be bastard are highly contextual. For instance, there are always specific situations where any role might be acceptable in a setup. Like, if you have a theme setup designed around a Survivor role, its probably okay. Take this page with a grain of salt.
