A Poison Doctor is a role that prevents players from being affected by poison. In games where there is no Poisoner, it is a Named Townie.

Poison Doctor is usually Town-aligned.

Standard version

Usually, but not quite always, the Poison Doctor's action only works on the Night that the Poisoner targets its victim. Check with the moderator if you are unsure.

Aside from the notion of saving a player from an impending kill, Poison Doctor bears no relation to Doctor.

Variations

A Poisoner may prevent a player from dying due to poison instead of or in addition to protecting a player from poison.

Use & Balance

Because it only protects against a single type of kill that does not manifest itself immediately, Poison Doctor is slightly weaker than Firefighter, which is noticeably weaker than Doctor.

Welcome to game! You are a Town Poison Doctor.

You have the following active ability:

  • Each Night, you may target a player. Assuming no interference with your action, that player will be protected from being poisoned that night.

You win if all threats to the town are eliminated and at least one town-aligned player is alive.

Example (with modifiers)

Welcome to game! You are a Town 1-shot Loud Poison Doctor.

You have the following active ability:

  • Once in the game at Night, you may target a player. Assuming no interference with your action, that player will be protected from being poisoned that night. Your target will learn that you targeted them (but not what action you targeted them with).

You win if all threats to the town are eliminated and at least one town-aligned player is alive.
