Dead Rikimaru's avatar

Hi, I am Dead Rikimaru.

My name derives from the main character of the Playstation game "Tenchu-Stealth Assassins" (1998). I loved the whole "Bushido" spirit of the game, specially the way Rikimaru sacrifices his life to accomplish his mission and save his master's daughter, Princess Kiku. Unfortunately, the franchise's success opened way to several sequels and the character was "revived", defeating the point of his self sacrifice. That's why I'm DEAD Rikimaru, in homage to the spirit of heroism and selflessness of the original game.

I started playing Mafia Online on the Grey Labyrinth, but soon moved to Mafia Scum since my metagaming tendencies made it less fun to play on a site with fewer memebers (I was getting to know those few members too well).

Mafia is a game of persuasion. As a player I'd say that finding scum is easy, difficult is to convince the other players of my findings. Since I started playing I have only improved my ability to deal with people in real life.

As a mod I'm better know by my crazy lynch and night scenes, doing them is the "fun part" of modding for me. I enjoy improvising based on the players decisions, as if they were book characters that could decide their own destiny. I consider myself good at balancing setups, and have helped several mods reviewing their games.

Playing now (6)

Games won (7)

  • Mafia 154: Mario Mafia! by Poker
    • Role: Yoshi (replacing referee) - Town - Mason with tracking abilities - survived - Town Won.
    • The Good: My best performance so far. I did a great use of my ability. And avoided an early cult win by convincing the town to lynch Fritzler "by math".
    • The Bad: In 8 Days we lynched scum 8 times (4 with my help) and one was nightkilled. If we mislynched once, town would be doomed.
    • The Ugly: I had actually to LIE to the town. I exaggerated my ability to make people believe my conclusions were actual results, but this won us the game.
    • Lesson: Sometimes lying as a protown player deceives the scum more than the other townies. It was not the last time I did it.
  • Mini 293: Resident Evil 4 Mafia by mikeburnfire
    • Role: Villager - Town - Townie - lynched Day 1 - Town Won.
    • The Good: I acted so paranoid that mafioso Glork thought I was newbie mafia of another faction and claimed cop. I got lynched D1. He got lynched D2. Good for the town.
    • The Bad: My play in this game was the greatest collection of newbie mistakes ever, lol. But I learned a lot from them.
    • The Ugly: Lloyd (triggerhappy vigilante) won this for the town. The Mod mikeburnfire got a little upset that his N0 vigkill of GF Kelly Chen messed the setup balance.
    • Lesson: If people keep attacking you and you defend every single attack, in the end they will occuse you of being overly defensive. :P
  • Mini 297: Insect Mafia! by help im a bug
    • Role: Chalcid Wasp - Town - Tracker - survived - Town won.
    • The Good: Scum killed scum. We just had to lynch bertrand. Alexander killed MeMe and MeMe killed starkmoon and Alexander .
    • The Bad: evilandy was paranoid against me. Anything I said he thought was an attack on him. I think it's my avatar. :p
    • The Ugly: The pace of this game was too fast. I was playing several games at the same time and had many problems to keep up with this one.
    • Lesson: I love being a tracker. I caught Alexander in the act of killing MeMe. Too bad it was a crosskill and didn't help the town.
  • Mafia 157: Teeth Mafia by Ctorj (replaced by Amb)
    • Role: Floss Mason - Town - Mason - covered in tartar Night 2 - Town won.
    • The Good: I pegged Mgm as scum on Day 1 because it was "Mgm playing like Fritzler". Unfortunately town didn't believe me and he lived longer.
    • The Bad: This game took loooong to fill. The mod Ctorj disappeared suddenly and left it closed for a long time. If Amb didn't take over it would have died.
    • The Ugly: !Chucklez! the SK only needed to send a choice to win. Due to his inactivity he got lynched and town won.
    • Lesson: Cavities can kill you. :(
  • Open 6: Nightless by spectrumvoid
    • Role: Vanilla Townie (replacing BrianMcQueso) - Town - Townie - lynched Day 5 - Town Won.
    • The Good: It was a free win for my record, since I did not last long and wasn't given the chance to do much.
    • The Bad: I got lynched due to the lurking of BrianMcQueso, whom I had replaced.
    • The Ugly: PookyTheMagicalBear/Thesp association won the game but was a dangerous thing. If either of them were Mafia town would have lost.
    • Lesson: Be careful when replacing into games where the town wants the head of the person you are replacing.
  • Mini 482: Shrek Mafia by KaleiÐoscøpe
    • Role: Donkey (replacing benhalkum) - Survivor Masonry - Survivor and Mason - survived - Town Won.
    • The Good: I entered the game replacing the prime suspect, but talked my way out of suspicion and survived to win along with town.
    • The Bad: After the mass claim being a mason I turned into a prime target. Being a survivor If I got killed I would have auto lost.
    • The Ugly: The setup relied a bit on luck to balance things for scum. Scum had no luck so they didn't have much of a chance.
    • Lesson: Never rely on luck as a factor of game balance.

Games lost (5)

  • Mafia 155: WWII Mafia by Courk
    • Role: Dr. Joseph Goebbels(replacing Blixa) - Nazi Mafia - Vote controller (kills with pistol) - shot right between the eyes (vigged) Night 3 - Town won.
    • The Good: My first online game. The Night conversations were very funny. We were a great scum group except for Poker that simply ignored the rest of us.
    • The Bad: We got very close to winning the "war", but the Russian masonhood had a mason/cop, a mason/vig and a mason/docmaker. They won it for town.
    • The Ugly: I thought I played very well, but got vigged on N3 after replacing on N2. I probably commited lots of newbie mistakes and din't notice. Got to read this again someday.
    • Lesson: Confirmed townies are many times more dangerous than cops or docs.
  • Mafia 159: Literary Mafia by Mgm
    • Role: Aimee Carter (replacing kdubya)- Town - Townie with a one-shot protection - lynched Day 4 - SK Agatha Christie (Fritzler) won.
    • The Good: It was a very fun game to play. I even checked cryptography sites to learn how to decode the secret messages.
    • The Bad: The way Talzor and I campaigned for our own lynches. Each one thought the other was a SK and wanted to get lynched to force a crosskill between SK and Mafia.
    • The Ugly: Fritzler's fake death, that made us think he was a cop and we still had a SK alive. This power altered the game's ending.
    • Lesson: Games where roles are not revealed upon death are much, much harder for town to win, and all Days keep that sore "Day 1 feel" of knowing nothing.
  • Mafia 48: Himalayan Mafia by Norinel
    • Role: Himalayan - Town - Townie - killed Night 7 - Asian Mafia won.
    • The Good: The best thing I did was to defend Fritzler claiming if he were in Mafia PookyTheMagicalBear would never be nightkilled. I contributed to avoid his lynch.
    • The Bad: I played badly. Concentrated all the game on TheCesspit and in the end he was innocent. I'm glad I was nightkilled soon after his lynch. Sorry, TCP :(
    • The Ugly: After two successfull Mafia lynches on D1 and D2 the town let the Mafia come back for the win with a brilliant performance of MrBuddyLee.
    • Lesson: The use of logical fallacies is not proof someone is scum.
  • Mini 302: Silent Football Mafia by Nai
    • Role: Vanilla Townie - Town - Townie - endgamed - Mafia won.
    • The Good: I pegged HezLucky as scum on Day 1 comparing his play with other games. Unfortunately town didn't believe me and he survived for the win.
    • The Bad: It was a great idea that needed constant interference of the mod to work. The mod lurked more than anyone and turned this game into a hell on earth.
    • The Ugly: I "proded" the mod several times and gave various suggestions to "fix" the game problems.
    • Lesson: Never try to implement a game mechanic in a game you are hosting that demands more work than you are able to handle.

Mod abandoned / replaced (3)

  • Mini 372: CVM Missionary Mafia by Kain
    • Role: Peter the Baptist Deacon/Assistant Minister - Town - Doc - survived - Mod abandoned.
    • The Good: I learned something about the mormons.
    • The Bad: My scumdar was pretty deffective in this game. I went after The_holy_thom and Zindaras and was wrong both times.
    • The Ugly: Unfortunatelly Kain was one of the scummers that never came back after the site crashes of Oct 2006, and the game was abandoned.
    • Lesson: Overly complicated roles mess with game balance and make it harder to see through false role claims.
  • Kingmaker II by BrianMcQueso (replaced by Thok)
    • Role: Assassin (replaced by Smashy, Battle Mage, mnowax) - Assassins - Assassin - survived - Assassins won.
    • The Good: petroleumjelly's perfect performance led him to be elected King three times and it won the game for the Assassins.
    • The Bad: This would probably have been the best game I had ever played if I didn't have to be replaced.
    • The Ugly: It was the time consuption of being King in this game that forced me to leave the site. If I could have lurked until my work problems were solved I'd have stayed.
    • Lesson: Being King in Kingmaker is overwhelmingly time consuming. It's a kind of game that shouldn't have so many players.
  • Mini 387: Suicide Bombers by mikeburnfire (replaced by Glork)
    • Role: Distraction (replacing Scalebane) (replaced by theopor_COD) - Town - Roleblocker - endgamed - Bomber Mafia won.
    • The Good: I entered the game advocating the lynch of ubertimmy, and I was right.
    • The Bad: After lynching scum twice in a row, the town allowed Kelly Chen, the last bomber, to come back for the win.
    • The Ugly: I had to leave the site due to work problems and got replaced.
    • Lesson: There is always hope for a lonely mafioso to come back, specially when there is no other faction to nightkill you.

Modded games (1)

  • Mini 364: Seven Samurai Mafia
    • Setup: Mine. Using the "hidden role" technique and many minor information roles to grant a no-vanilla game without balance issues.
    • The Good: The Mafia played very well. From the original team (M4yhem, Kain, Kaebamf) to the post crash team (M4yhem, spectrumvoid, riktus).
    • The Bad: The town let Kain/spectrumvoid get away with outing many power roles on Day 1 and lynched the doc (Toaster Strudel) on Day 2 due to M4yhem's fake counterclaim.
    • The Ugly: Lovers on the movie, Katsushiro(Romanus) and Shino(ShadowLurker)'s arguments were a major part of what happened D1.
    • Lesson: On most games be prepared to replace around 50% of the initial players.
