X-Hit is a role modifier that restricts the number of times that a power role can get a result determined to be a "hit". (Here 'X' can be replaced with the number of times it can "hit".) Having this modifier allows you to get a Results PM when you get a hit.

Standard version

How X-Hit would work:

  • Investigative roles like Cop and Tracker count a "hit" on a positive result (guilty, seen something, etc.).
  • Protective roles like Doctor and Rolestopper count a "hit" if an action fails due to protection.
  • Manipulative roles like Roleblocker and Jailkeeper count a "hit" if an action is altered (blocked, redirected, etc.).
  • Killing roles like Vigilante count a "hit" if that player dies that Night.
  • Other roles count a "hit" if it succeeds on a player that doesn't die that Night.

Basically, X-Hit counts a hit if your action does something useful.

Variations

X-Result is a more elegant way to implement a restricted X-Shot modifier, however X-Result can only be applied to investigative roles.

X-Miss restricts the number of times that a power role can get a result determined to be a "miss", construed to be the opposite of a "hit". X-Miss still needs the action itself to succeed to deplete however.

How X-Miss would work:

  • Investigative roles like Cop and Tracker count a "miss" on a negative result (innocent, seen nothing, etc.).
  • Protective roles like Doctor and Rolestopper count a "miss" if protection doesn't stop anything.
  • Manipulative roles like Roleblocker and Jailkeeper count a "miss" if no action is altered.
  • Killing roles like Vigilante count a "miss" if that player survives that Night.
  • Other roles count a "miss" if it succeeds on a player that dies that Night.

Sample Role PMs

The standardized Role PM for "1-hit" describes the modifier as follows:

  • As a modifier on an active ability: Each Night, until your action does something useful, (edit)
  • As a modifier on a passive ability: P2 until your passive ability does something useful (edit)

Example (modifying an active ability)

Welcome to game! You are a Town 1-hit Jailkeeper.

You have the following active ability:

  • Each Night, until your action does something useful, you may target a player. Assuming no interference with your action, that player will be protected from kills that night, but all their actions will be blocked that night.

You win if all threats to the town are eliminated and at least one town-aligned player is alive.

Confirm by replying to this PM with a summary of your role.

Example (modifying a passive ability)

Welcome to game! You are a 1-hit Bulletproof Townie.

You are protected from kills that target you until your passive ability does something useful.

You have no active abilities.

You win if all threats to the town are eliminated and at least one town-aligned player is alive.

Confirm by replying to this PM with a summary of your role.
