A Parrot is a player that when targeting a player uses their target's active abilities on them.

Standard version

A Parrot visits a player. If the visited player has any active abilities with one target, the Parrot will use them on the player they visited. For example, if a Parrot targets a Cop, the Parrot will perform a Cop check on the Cop.

Parrots do not copy factional abilities with their ability.

If a Parrot targets a player without an active ability, they will visit with no effect.

Variations

A Deva has a similar effect to a Parrot - a Deva makes their target also target themself with the ability they used. Devas can affect factional abilities and aren't considered to be performing the same type of action as their target, unlike Parrots.

Use & Balance

Parrots thrive in role madness games as they are entirely reliant on their targets having active abilities.

Sample Role PMs

The standardized Role PM for "Parrot" describes the action as follows:

  • As a targeted action: if that player has an active ability, you will use that ability on that player. (edit)

Example (simplest form)

Welcome to game! You are a Town Parrot.

You have the following active ability:

  • Each Night, you may target a player. Assuming no interference with your action, if that player has an active ability, you will use that ability on that player.

You win if all threats to the town are eliminated and at least one town-aligned player is alive.

Confirm by replying to this PM with a summary of your role.

Example (with modifiers)

Welcome to game! You are a Town 1-shot Loud Parrot.

You have the following active ability:

  • Once in the game at Night, you may target a player. Assuming no interference with your action, if that player has an active ability, you will use that ability on that player. Your target will learn that you targeted them (but not what action you targeted them with).

You win if all threats to the town are eliminated and at least one town-aligned player is alive.
