The "tipping point" is defined as the halfway point (or just above) of a lynch requirement.

Use

The tipping point can be used in analyzing voting records to find scum. For example, let's start with the following vote count, 5 votes to lynch (9 players), and knowing that the scum team is tubby216 & HowardRoark. Vi (Town) is at the tipping point (3 votes).

HowardRoark1Vi
TDC1tubby216

If mith moves his vote from Vi to HowardRoark and Adel adds her vote, that increases pressure on tubby216's scum partner and may derail the Vi wagon.

HowardRoark could move his vote to Vi, but would would be drawing OMGUS attention. His partner, tubby216, can move his vote to mith or Vi in an attempt to protect HowardRoark. Moving to mith could be viewed as a chainsaw defense thus drawing unnecessary attention to both of them. (They would also be on the same wagon.) Moving to Vi should draw less attention and hopefully put the Vi wagon back on track by placing it back to the tipping point.

Obviously, tubby216 could also bus his partner, which could be more ideal. If he busses his partner after performing this move to Vi, it is even more evidence against tubby216 if HowardRoark is exposed as scum.
