: Well, then you are likely to draw out the real doc.  It's poor play.  As to the tone of the article, you can write another if you want.  The point was to tell people how to avoid the common traps. (P.S.  You should sign with four tildes) Jeep 21:03, 1 October 2007 (MDT)

: I REALLY don't want to get into a discussion of this here, as I don't have the time nor the inclination, but it's then the DOCTORS bad play to come out, not yours. The doctor should never claim for any reason. I am removing the clause, because it is prescriptive in a descriptive article. Don't like the LAL thing, either, but thats just me.

:::Well, this article is descriptive, because it's about "how to find the doc". It's not like this is the article on what a Doctor "is"; I think the advice is sound. LAL may have its opponents, but most people will lynch you for it. -- Mr. Flay 12:43, 2 October 2007 (MDT)

I'm not disappointed at all. On the contrary, I'm glad you didn't come out with some super theory that is super-effective and nobody ever came close to thinking of. The above stuff are just extensions of what we already know, and at least give the impression that we should have thought of them already.

This will most definitely improve the game, but will not spoil it, as some had feared. ~shadyforce

I just checked this against my performance in mini 63 where I was the doc, and discovered that Cadmium, Tigris, and IndenturedDjinn all mentioned the doc before I did (Cadmium even congratulated him). Cool. -PolarBoy

Yeah, that's probably also the thing that got me killed the second night. Maybe the ploy where you claim to be a doctor "to draw mafia fire" while you're actually a townie doesn't work, but hinting at it might ;o). - Cadmium

Withholding a supposedly brilliant tell that only you have thought of is silly. Seems kind of conceited to me. -- MafiaNut 2004-09-10 20:48 UTC

OK. However, I never said it was brilliant. I never said only I had though of it. And could have directly influenced an on-going game. People were opposing me publishing this at all because it might affect games. I'm trying to keep the impact to a minimum. -- JEEP 2004-10-05 23:13 UTC

I disagree with the clause that one should not claim doc to draw mafia fire. I am of the opinion that they should. Thats not important, however. What is important, is that this article should be descriptive, not prescriptive. It should present facts, not tell players how to play the game of mafia. I am strongly considering removing that phrase. -Shea

Well, then you are likely to draw out the real doc. It's poor play. As to the tone of the article, you can write another if you want. The point was to tell people how to avoid the common traps. (P.S. You should sign with four tildes) Jeep 21:03, 1 October 2007 (MDT)
