That's really bad news about the View All function being such a resource hog. I think people found it really handy for scanning the thread, even though it broke once you got to ~20 pages or so. Better to kill it than to let the site keep going down, though.

Also, this is of relatively little importance but the test wiki was acting up just now. Possibly related, as it was throwing MySQL errors, but it worked fine for about 15 minutes, and is back now. If you want me to stop editing here to conserve CPU, just say the word.

Error message: Warning: mysql_query(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /home/mithmojo/public_html/mafiascum/wiki/includes/Database.php on line 620

MafiaScum

whenever i go to log in, i get the following message:

Sorry, but this board is currently unavailable. Please try again later.

is this only affecting me, b/c i haven't seen anything in the Don't Panic wiki page concerning the site going down... yesterday, though, when i tried logging in, i got a message from bluehost saying the account had been suspended, and to contact the billing/support department ASAP... i'll keep checking in here since this is the only connection i have to MafiaScum at this time... + P.S. I also can't log in correctly to edit this page, but that's a minor problem...

MafiaScum - Wiki

ok, i finally found the regular wiki URL, and it is as follows:

http://www.mafiascum.net/cgi-bin/wiki.pl

in the Don't Panic section, mith writes the following:

November 20, 2006 - Deactivated again. I've disabled the forum while we look through the logs again. Might have to switch boxes. More later. -mith

i've referenced it here for anybody like me that found the Mafia Wiki Test, instead of the regular wiki...

also i fixed the not being able to log in by signing up, duh...

Yeah, I know at least 5 or 6 people in scumchat got it. I did too.

JEEP fixed it already. :P -- Mr. Flay 21:38, 19 June 2007 (MDT)

Account Problem

Posting here as I can't post as a Guest on the forums. Tried clearing cookies and using different browsers and computers.
Created this account on the 4th of July, got an e-mail telling me to wait for activation. Nothing has happened yet and newer accounts since mine have been activated.
Tried e-mailing mith and JEEP to no avail (spam filters?).
This is my account (does not appear on the members list).
http://www.mafiascum.net/forum/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=7559
Hope someone is able to help me here, if not I would appreciate it if someone could cut and paste this message here into this thread [1].
Thank you,
Atheous

Edit: Quite a few other people seem to be having the same problem, "sam Cullen" "samCullen" "leech" "locke" "p3nguin" to name a few of the possibles. Maybe it is a general problem with registration.

Atheous has been activated. I don't think I got your e-mail, Atheous, when was it sent?
Which of the others need to be activated and which deleted (if any?) There does seem to be a registration problem. I'm looking into it today. Jeep 13:59, 9 July 2007 (MDT)

Thank you very much.

The registration problem seems to have started on the 28th of June, as that is when the joining members drastically slowed, starting with http://www.mafiascum.net/forum/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=7485 on the 28th of June and up until today the 9th of July with http://www.mafiascum.net/forum/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=7621, that makes 136 attempts at registering with a lot of them failing, but I don't know how much as I assume a lot of them are not showing on the members list, including mine(I can log in). I imagine that there is much less actual people as a lot of them seem to be people trying different names to register as each attempt seemed to fail as far as they knew along with possible spam/bots.

You can delete member "Atheo" [2] as that was my second attempt at creating an account.

Thanks again, hope you get it sorted soon as I can very well see it being an encumbrance.

Me too

Hi, just adding a "me too." I got the error registering an account (username "gumbo") but got the e-mail stating to wait for activation. After waiting about one day and wondering how long it takes, found the discussion thread in the forum linking to here. So, yeah, add me to the list of people who need to be activated as well. The MySQL error appeared to be from it trying to retrieve the list of administrator's e-mail addresses, so I guess it never gets that and can't e-mail anyone to let them know that I need to be activated. -- Gumbo 15:30, 10 July 2007 (MDT)

Will let JEEP know. I assume this is the account name? -- Mr. Flay 20:55, 10 July 2007 (MDT)
That's right. Thanks! -- Gumbo 08:09, 11 July 2007 (MDT)

Me three

Hey, I've got a problem with registering, but it's not quite the same. Here's the error message I get:

We do not trust your reason we should believe you are not a bot, please try again.
DEBUG MODE
No reason we should believe.
Line : 741
File : usercp_register.php

Now, is this the error message that everyone's getting? The username I've tried to register as is "ChaosSilver" btw. Thanks in advance!

    ~Cap'n Crunch...er...Chaos.
Hey, sounds as though you didn't correctly fill out the registration form. You need to write something in the "Note to Admin:" section. Try again, making sure you fill everything out that needs to be filled out, if it still does not work leave a message saying so. Atheous 16:05, 12 July 2007 (MDT)

Oh, also, someone has left a message for an administrator to see. Atheous 16:21, 12 July 2007 (MDT)

Me four

Signed up as dotchan and got the first confirmation email, but haven't been activated yet.

I'm a real person! ;_;

Problem posted, check HERE for further information. POST 28 should be of interest if you do not wish for this account to be activated. Please post in that thread if you make another account explaining which one should be deleted.
Atheous 02:02, 13 July 2007 (MDT)

Account dotchan has been activated, courtesy of jeep.
Atheous 04:47, 13 July 2007 (MDT)

Me five!

Signed up once as destructor then again as cavodine when I thought it had failed. XD This is me: Link

Sounds like I had the same problem as many above. Some debug error. =/

Please activate the destructor account! =) Thanks!

Me Six

I signed up as charter and I got an email telling me to wait for activation, if you could activate it I would appreciate it! Thanks!

IP Address

Posted here for JEEP's benefit So that I can fix my banned IP address.

1) who are you? just a plain IP address doesn't do much for us...
2) your IP address isn't in the Block Log, so i'm not sure what you're talking about
3) why are you posting here? shouldn't you be posting in the Help! forum?..
-- Dani Banani 23:42, 18 October 2007 (MDT)

Sorry I didn't think in advance there. Forgot that it wouldn't post my name. It was working for quite a while and now it says I am banned from the forums again. Do you have any idea why this is happening?
-- Rogueben 12:11, 28 October 2007 (MDT)

oh, sorry, for some reason i thought you were talking about the wiki... i posted a topic in the Help! forum for you, so hopefully that will help you out... (Link)
-- Dani Banani 22:17, 27 October 2007 (MDT)

He posted here at my request. Then he sent me an e-mail saying the problem was fixed. Your IP (this one, at least) was banned. I've unbanned it. Jeep 12:06, 28 October 2007 (MDT)

OK I don't understand what's going on. I must have a dynamic IP or something cause I'm banned again.Rogueben 7:41, 31 October 2007 (MDT)

How can I activate my inactive account?

I have created my account long time ago, but hasn't posted anything on the site. My account became inactive when I tried to login yesterday. How can I activate my account?

What's the account name? Have you tried emailing the site administrator? I believe the email is in the registration form... -- Mr. Flay 02:24, 5 January 2009 (MST)
My account is 142857, and I have emailed the site administrator before. There is no reply.
I heard JEEP mention your account the other day; I know you'll have to get a username with a letter at the beginning, but other than that it should work. I'm not sure if he still hasn't contacted you yet... -- Mr. Flay 15:45, 10 January 2009 (EST)

"Upload File" Error

I've been trying (For some time - gave up about a month ago, but decided to attempt again) to upload an image to the wiki. Specificaly, my forum avatar, so I can use it in the userbox template (Aren't I showy? :P). Anyway, each and every time I click on the link on the left (The one that says "Upload file"), I get the following error:\

The upload directory (/home/mafia/public_html/wiki/images) is not writable by the webserver.

Is this just me, or has uploading been disabled? James.Denholm 01:26, 15 April 2009 (EDT)

It seems so. We've been having trouble starting with .png images. Let me assure you, you're not the only one with this problem, but I think it's up to a higher Sysop or Jeep --Andycyca||me||What? 21:54, 20 April 2009 (EDT)
