Barning is the act of proxying all your actions to any other particular player. It is done most commonly to players who are either known to be good scum hunters, or known to be pro town. Taken to the extreme, it can become proxying, which consists of voluntarily giving your vote to another player in the game.
The term comes from the word "barnacle". You are essentially leeching off of someone else's skill, fame, or whatever.
