Hey, I'm Mathdino. You can call me Math, MD, Dino, whatever, although I'd prefer you not use 'Mathdingo'. Oh and I'm male. Also if it helps you at all, I subconsciously think that 'Math' is my first name and 'Dino' is my last, so I subconsciously find people calling me Dino a little less friendly.

I've read forum mafia games for years, but was too lazy to actually play any before MafiaScum. I have played and modded quite a bit of IRL mafia though.

I withhold trying to figure out what my playstyle's like until I finish a few more games.
* Known as an ultimate tryhard town player.
* Open Setup aficionado, trying to fix some setups in the MD.
* Obsessed with setup-breaking, setup-optimisation, and unnecessary calculations and programs in and out of mafia games.
* Amateur setup designer/reviewer. I made the setup Noir!
* Policy lyncher extraordinaire.

My pet peeve is tunnel vision, especially when I have it.

The best ways of catching scum, ranked:

VT, Won. A really cool game, ended up surviving to LyLo and then MyLo. Town was dangerously close to losing with me writing insanely long cases on the (former) town leader but we backed off of each other and did a couple LyLo gambits to out the 2 scum.
# Logic/Setup-Breaking: People use these badly. Don't use these badly. Know when players are or aren't confirmed scum.
# Process of Elimination: I'm a townhunting player more than a scumhunting one. Locking most of the game as town makes games easy.
# Good Meta: Most meta is shit. Take most of it a grain of salt. I'm talking "I know a player over 10 games and I can tell their alignments apart" level meta.
# Motivation-reading: Analysis of trajectory and motivations behind a player's posts and actions goes a long way.
# Pro-town vs anti-town: Occam's Razor suggests that someone constantly acting anti-town (i.e. hard-defends scum, mislynches town) is just scum. This goes doubly if the player suffers from Burden of Proficiency.
# VCA/NKA: I wrote the wiki article for VCA. It's useful sometimes. And when in doubt, sheep the dead.
# Cold meta/Rough meta: Ever so often there are scumtells hidden in a player's scum ISOs from previous games. Some players are easy to meta, but most are hard.
# Tonereading/gutreading: People overestimate how often this works. A select few players can reliably gutread people they've never played with before. The vast majority, including me, can't.

VT, Won but lynched D1. I honestly barely followed the game after getting lynched, but anyway this is a prime example of why you shouldn't let your subconscious make up evidence to back up your claims. Got lynched for thinking the flavour text told me there were 3 mafia when there was no such text... Also played generally poorly in terms of defending myself. And reading people.
UNDER CONSTRUCTION.

Tracker/Vig, Won but shot N1. Amazing game, started off by breaking the setup in town's favour and when the scum claimed my role, I was able to get a ton of info including who to lynch D1 before they caught on that I was the actual T/V.

Then I forgot to shoot the confirmed scum that night. Meh. After N2 it was 8 vs 1 for the remaining scum.

Peter Quill, Town Thief, game abandoned D1. Not much to say about this game, mostly involved me translating GreyICE with a post restriction and bickering all game with a scum hydra of Nacho and SleepyKrew. Abandoned after the modkill policy was misinterpreted. By the mod.

VT, Won but vengeshot D1. The game where I'm way better at looking town than catching scum. Really enjoyable D1 (fun read if you so choose), at which point the mod gave the townie we lynched a vengeful shot and he decided to kill me. Game then went into Methodical Mafia and town won.

The best ways of catching scum, ranked:

 1. Logic/Setup-Breaking: People use these badly. Don't use these badly. Know when players are or aren't confirmed scum.
 2. Process of Elimination: I'm a townhunting player more than a scumhunting one. Locking most of the game as town makes games easy.
 3. Good Meta: Most meta is shit. Take most of it a grain of salt. I'm talking "I know a player over 10 games and I can tell their alignments apart" level meta.
 4. Motivation-reading: Analysis of trajectory and motivations behind a player's posts and actions goes a long way.
 5. Pro-town vs anti-town: Occam's Razor suggests that someone constantly acting anti-town (i.e. hard-defends scum, mislynches town) is just scum. This goes doubly if the player suffers from Burden of Proficiency.
 6. VCA/NKA: I wrote the wiki article for VCA. It's useful sometimes. And when in doubt, sheep the dead.
 7. Cold meta/Rough meta: Ever so often there are scumtells hidden in a player's scum ISOs from previous games. Some players are easy to meta, but most are hard.
