These are the rules of all games I mod. Note that game-specific rules, posted in the game thread, take precedence over these rules.

Parts of these rules are stolen from or inspired by a number of other rulesets, including those of Bad at Mafia, Seacore and Amished.

General

  1. The site-wide rules apply, please read them and do not do anything stupid.
    • These rules and the game-specific rules overrule the Mafia Specific Rules, but not the General Site Rules or the General Site Guidelines.
  2. Breaking a bolded rule will likely get you exiled. This means that you die and lose in all of my games that you are in, and cannot play in my next game.
    • In regard to game mechanics, an exiled player does not exist.
    • A player being exiled does not automatically end the day.
    • I will not reveal the role of an exiled player until the game is over.
  3. The paragraphs in italics are just flavor. They are not rules or information.
  4. If you notice that I may have made a mistake or forgotten something, tell me.
    • This includes vote counts and prods.
    • This also includes if a player breaks a bolded rule and I miss it.
    • Remember that there are some things that you cannot post in the game thread (or do not want to). In this case, PM me.
  5. Bold all in-thread messages to the mod team.
    • I might ignore anything not bolded.
  6. I reserve the right to add more, or modify or remove existing rules at any time.
    • If this happens, I will let everyone know.

Votes

  1. Votes must use the [vote] tags.
  2. Unvoting is obligatory and must use the [unvote] tags.
    • If you unvote a player you are not voting, or do not specify any player, the unvote will not count.
    • If you do not unvote before another vote, that vote will not count.
  3. If you vote or unvote someone not on the player list, it will not count.
    • This includes misspelled and shortened usernames, but excludes no lynch.
  4. Once a majority of votes is reached, that person is lynched. A majority consists of half the living players, rounded down, plus one.
    • The majority for a no lynch consists of the same number of votes as the majority for a lynch.
  5. If there is no majority at deadline, the player or players with most votes against them is/are lynched.
    • If there is at least one no lynch vote, no one is lynched.
  6. Unvotes will not prevent a lynch after the required number of votes has been reached.
    • This includes unvotes in the same post as the lynching vote.

Deadlines

  1. All dates and times are in Universal Time, Coordinated (UTC).
  2. Days have deadlines of 7 days.
    • Day 1 has a deadline of 14 days.
  3. Nights have deadlines of 48 hours.
  4. Any actions not submitted in time will be forfeited, except if the action's description states otherwise.

Post Restrictions

  1. Do not talk about this game outside the game thread unless your role allows you to.
    • This includes signing up to this game with more than one account.
  2. If you talk about another ongoing game in the thread, I will tell that game’s mod.
  3. When you are dead, you may not post. Stay that way until the game is over.
    • No bah posts.
    • This rule applies from the moment you are hammered. There is a Preview feature that shows the latest posts. No excuses.
  4. I do not usually edit posts. If I do, I write in red.
  5. Do not bold excessively.
    • It is perfectly okay if you bold something like "@iamausername:", but if you do this please do not bold the paragraph addressed to iamausername.
  6. Do not edit or delete posts.
  7. Do not use any special text other than bold text.
    • This includes [color] tags and italic text.
    • Links are okay.
  8. Write in English and no other language.
    • This includes ciphers like Pig Latin.
  9. Do not quote any communication from the mods in the game thread.
    • This includes your role PM.
  10. Do not attempt to use information such as role PM structure or message times.
  11. Do not impersonate a mod.
  12. Use [quote] tags when you quote.

Activity

  1. If you are going to be on V/LA, please let me know. I will be flexible, but if you cannot be here for a significant amount of time I will replace you.
  2. Not posting in the game thread, a QuickTopic that is part of the game, or PMing me for 48 hours, not including announced V/LA time, means a prod.
    • When a player is prodded, this will be announced in the game thread.
  3. Your role PM counts as a prod.
  4. If you do not respond to a prod after 24 hours, you are in regard to these rules flaking and I will start looking for a replacement.
    • You may respond to a prod in the game thread, via pm to a mod, or in any QuickTopic that is part of the game.
    • You may still return to the game at this time. However, when I announce your replacement in the game thread, you are out.
  5. The current deadline countdown is paused when a player is flaking.
    • A single flaking player will pause the countown for no longer than four days.
    • A single deadline will not be extended by more than a week.
  6. Further deadline extensions can be requested, and may or may not be given based on the situation.
  7. Do not flake when a game day or night begins or ends.
  8. Do not flake more than twice.

Playstyle

  1. Play to win, do not ruin the game for others.
    • Do not claim that someone is your scumbuddy.
  2. Have fun.
  3. Treat everyone playing as real people, even if they are not.
    • I am talking about hydras, alts, theme characters, etc.

Game Mechanics

  1. Roles and alignments will be revealed upon death.
  2. There is no Dead Players QuickTopic.
  3. Night actions are determined using Natural Action Resolution.
  4. Anything and everything kept secret during the game will be made public in endgame.
    • Included but not limited to everyone's roles, night actions, QuickTopics.
    • If I forget something, it will be made public upon request.
  5. If you have questions about game mechanics, ask.
    • Again, remember that there are some things that you cannot post in the game thread (or do not want to). In this case, PM me.
