These are the rules of all games I mod. Note that game-specific rules, posted in the game thread, take precedence over these rules.

Parts of these rules are stolen from or inspired by a number of other rulesets, including those of Bad at Mafia, Seacore and Amished. Special credit goes to Hoopla for providing me with a whole new way to look at rules.

You can link to a specific rule (let's say rule 13) by referencing the anchor r13. From the forum, you would use [wiki=rule 13]Fenhl/Rules#r13[/wiki] — from the wiki, you would use [[Fenhl/Rules#r13|rule 13]].

General

  1. The site-wide rules apply.
    • Mafia Specific Rules < these rules < game-specific rules < General Site Guidelines < General Site Rules.
  2. Breaking a bolded rule will likely get you exiled. This means that you lose in all of my games that you are in, and cannot play in my next game.
    • In regard to game mechanics, an exiled player does not exist.
    • A player being exiled does not automatically end the day.
    • The role of an exiled player is not automatically revealed. It will however be revealed when the game is over.
    • An exile may include a modkill depending on the situation: in that case, the player dies before being removed.
  3. The paragraphs in italics are just flavor. They are not rules or information.
  4. If you notice that I may have made a mistake or forgotten something, tell me.
    • This includes vote counts and prods.
    • This also includes if a player breaks a bolded rule and I miss it.
    • Remember that there are some things that you cannot post in the game thread (or do not want to). In this case, PM me.
  5. Bold all messages to the mod team.
    • I might ignore anything not bolded.
  6. I reserve the right to add more, or modify or remove existing rules at any time.
    • If this happens, I will let everyone know.

Votes

  1. Votes and unvotes must be in bold.
    • Votes must be unambiguous with respect to player nicknames and abbreviations.
    • You are encouraged to use the [vote] and [unvote] tags, respectively.
  2. Once a majority of votes is reached, that person is lynched. A majority consists of half the living players, rounded down, plus one.
    • The majority for a no lynch consists of the same number of votes as the majority for a lynch.
  3. If there is no majority at deadline, the player or players with most votes against them is/are lynched.
    • If there is at least one no lynch vote, no one is lynched.
  4. Unvotes will not prevent a lynch after the required number of votes has been reached.
    • This includes unvotes in the same post as the lynching vote.

Deadlines

  1. Days have deadlines of 7 days.
    • Day 1 has a deadline of 14 days.
  2. Nights have deadlines of 48 hours.
  3. Any actions not submitted in time will be forfeited, except if the action's description states otherwise.
    • It is, for example, possible that a not submitted night action targets a player randomly.

Post Restrictions

  1. The "don't talk when you're dead" rule from the Mafia Specific Rules applies from the moment you are hammered.
    • There is a Preview feature that shows the latest posts. No excuses.
  2. I do not usually edit posts. If I do, I write in purple.
    • Writing in purple counts as impersonating a mod.
  3. Do not bold excessively.
    • It is perfectly okay if you bold something like "@iamausername:", but if you do this please do not bold the paragraph addressed to iamausername.
  4. Do not edit or delete posts.
  5. Write in English and no other language.
    • This includes ciphers like Pig Latin.
  6. Do not quote any communication from the mods in the game thread.
    • This includes your role PM.
  7. Do not impersonate a mod.

Activity

  1. Not posting in the game thread, a QuickTopic that is part of the game, or PMing me for 48 hours means a prod.
    • When a player is prodded, this will be announced in the game thread.
  2. Your role PM counts as a prod.
  3. If you do not respond to a prod after 24 hours, you are in regard to these rules flaking and I will start looking for a replacement.
    • You may respond to a prod in the game thread, via pm to a mod, or in any QuickTopic that is part of the game.
    • You may still return to the game at this time. However, when I announce your replacement in the game thread, you are out.
  4. The current deadline countdown is paused when a player is flaking.
    • A single flaking player will pause the countown for no longer than four days.
    • A single deadline will not be extended by more than a week.
  5. Further deadline extensions can be requested, and may or may not be given based on the situation.
  6. Do not flake when a game day or night begins or ends.
  7. Do not flake more than twice.

Playstyle

  1. Play to win, do not ruin the game for others.
    • Do not claim that someone is your scumbuddy.
  2. Do not attempt to exploit loopholes.
    • Do not attempt to use information such as role PM structure or message times.

Game Mechanics

  1. Roles and alignments will be revealed upon death.
  2. There is no Dead Players QuickTopic.
  3. Night actions are determined using Natural Action Resolution.
  4. The game ends when at least one of the following is true:
    • All members of the town are dead.
    • All threats to the town are eliminated.
    • There are exactly two players alive and it is daytime.
    • There are less than two players alive.
  5. Anything and everything kept secret during the game will be made public in endgame.
    • Including but not limited to everyone's roles, night actions, QuickTopics.
    • If I forget something, it will be made public upon request.
  6. If you have questions about rules or game mechanics, ask.
    • Again, remember that there are some things that you cannot post in the game thread (or do not want to). In this case, PM me.
