These are set-ups I have used and are considering for future games.

Disclaimer

  • All games are subject to bastarding without notice.
  • All games do not have Jester or Cults unless other-wise specified.
  • Use the "Talk" page to discuss the set-ups and your opinions
  • You are entitled to use any of these themes and modify them, if you do, throw me a link.

Standard Rules

These are my standard rules for all games

  1. I am your god.
    • While you are participating in my game, my say is final.
    • If you have a dispute with my ruling, I ask you PM me your argument in a polite, civil manner. Rude and abusive PMs will be ignored and if I deem it so, forwarded to a higher power for further action.
    • I will inform you of any action that will be taken in response.
  2. All the information you need on the game will be available in the inital 3 posts I make for a game
    • A detailed game overview will be provided however sample role PMs will not.
    • All information not covered will be available on the wiki.
    • Any information not available on the wiki, isn't avaiable.
  3. You may not communicate outside this thread unless your are specifically told you are able to.
  4. I will not post any information about roles of deceased players until the morning.
  5. Once the lynch total is met, the game enters twilight and no more voting is allowed.
    • Players with night actions may send them at this point.
    • You are allowed a single "bah" post.
    • You may reveal as much information as you like provided these rules are not broken.
  6. You may not quote anything from outside this game.
    • Quoting or faking any direct communication from myself will be punished.
    • Quoting or faking QT content will be punished.
  7. I do not modkill lightly. There are alternate means to punish you and they are not pleasant.
    • If you do get mod-killed, your FULL role PM will be revealed. You will not be replaced.
  8. I use Dark Blue. Using this is forbidden.
  9. No small, hidden or encrypted text.
  10. Be respectful to other players. Abuse will not be tolerated.
  11. Votes must be in bold, in the format of Vote: Player
    • Please use the players complete username
    • If I think its a vote, I will count it.
    • Unvotes are nice but not required.
    • Despite being your god, I am not flawless. Its your job to keep track of where you vote is and to correct me if I am wrong.
  12. I like fast paced games, 1 day = 120 Hours (5 days), 1 night = 48 Hours (2 Days).
    • These are flexible and will be adapted as needed or by request, provided sufficient grounds are given
    • If you say "OMG plz extend so we can lynch this n00b" or similar you will be punished.
  13. Prods will be given after 60 hours of in-activity. You will have 48-hours to respond or you will be replaced and your Karma will be affected.
  14. Enhanced rules take precedence over standard rules.
    • If you are unsure, please PM me and I will be happy to clarify it for you.

It may seem highly unbalanced, that's because it is; however, I consider it the "expert" difficulty level of mafia.

Enhanced Ruleset

  1. NO deadline extensions are allowed.
  2. Vigilante can not kill D1.
  3. Punishment: In this game you will become a Suicidal Townie

Role Overview

Pro-town

Vanilla Townie - Exactly what's on the tin.
Bullet-proof Townie - Immune to Vigilante kills.
Cop - Investigates one person per night.
Doctor - Protects one person per night from the vigilante for 1 day/night.
Vigilante - Can kill one person per day/night at any point via a message to the moderator. A message will be posted upon receipt stating who was targeted and if it was successful or not.

Pro-Mafia

Psychotic Killer - The one man mafia has 2 additional abilities to help him survive, he can use only one of either Framer or Bulletproof. If bulletproof is used it lasts through the day as well.

Vanilla Townie

You are the towns' flavour of the month, Vanilla.

All you have are your suspicions and your vote. Use them well.

Bullet-proof Townie

You were one of the first in line at the local store when it became known there was a killer in your midst. You managed to get yourself a bullet-proof vest, this should do the job in defending you against any mad vigilantes that turn up to dish out some street justice.

Cop

You got the short straw back at the office and got sent out to investigate the recent killing out here despite being a rookie... Fortunately, your not without your iBerry and have full access to the police and local news databases... Unfortunately, you forgot your charger, you figure if you leave it to one investigation per night you should be fine.

Doctor

There's a killer on the loose and where there's a killer there's people needing help. Unfortunately you only brought supplies to treat gun-shot wounds, not crazy, mad, chainsaw wielding, axe-throwing nut-cases. You can't be everywhere at once and usually end up following the same person for 24 hours (1 game day and night).

You may send a PM at any time stating who you wish to protect.

Vigilante

There's a killer amongst us and you feel that it's your duty to pull out your trust .357 magnum and kill the murdering scum before he gets anyone else. You know if you go mad people will suspect you, kill you then just go on as if its job done; which helps no-one. So you decide to load a single bullet everyday so your not liable to go mad and draw attention to yourself.

You can send the PM at any time.

Pro-Scum

Psychotic-Killer

Your one sandwich short a picnic, and slightly crazy to boot. For some reason your determined everyone in this sleepy little village is out to get you, so you decide to pick them off one by one until they're all dead. While being not completely there upstairs, your smart enough to know you can't take them all in one night and more than one is just asking for it. You also have the smarts to plant evidence and wear a bullet-proof vest... but not smart enough to do both in the same night..

You have a nightkill, and the ability to frame someone or become bullet-proof for 1 day and one night.

Enhanced Ruleset

  1. One day is 14 Days
  2. One night is 4 Days
  3. Scum ARE allowed to Day-Talk in their designated QT threads.
  4. THIS GAME IS SUBJECT TO HEAVY BASTARDING. THE MAJORITY OF ROLES WILL NOT BE AS THEY ARE STATED.
    • Expect NO Vanilla town roles.
  5. Punishment in this game will turn you into a Zebesian Space Pirate. a 3rd Party faction with no win condition.
    • This will be done silently.

Base Mechanics

Samus' kills are only effective based on time in game.

  • N1 - GF can be killed. Metroids are stopped from their NK. Ing require one less vote to lynch. Phazon Has no effect. If Dark Samus or X is targeted, Samus' becomes corrupted.
  • N2 - Metroids can now be frozen. Ing can be killed. Phazon is still unaffected and Dark Samus will corrupt. X can now be frozen.
  • N3 - Metroids and Ing will now be killed silently. Phazon can now be frozen. X will be destroyed.
  • N4 - Phazon can now be killed.

If Samus is targeted to be killed at any point. Adam Malokovich will place himself in the firing line to protect Samus and will silently over-ride any lynch attempt on Samus.

Adam Malokovich WILL NOT be told of his role.

If Samus is targeted by Dark Samus or X at any point in the game during the night phase, she will become corrupted unless a Class 3 Doctor protects her.

Chozo are unlynchable and their "sanity" is based on their age in Cycles. 10-110 are Naive. 111-200 are sane. 200+ are Paranoid. Age in Cycles will be revealed on death.

Special Ops are doctors and their effectiveness is based on their class. Class 1 are Weak, Class 2 are CPR, Class 3 are normal and Class 4 are JailKeepers, again their class will not be revealed until death.

The Leader of each mafia has a unique ability to identify themselves. They also decide ultimately who to kill at night.

X is very unique character in this setup. They have Watcher/Tracker 2-in-1 ability, They have a NK option, they are Survivors, can corrupt Samus, they are immune to kills from the Ing and from Phazon. Metroids can NK them at any point and Samus and Vig them later in the game.

Because of Bastarding, there is a VERY small chance of a Vanilla Townie role being issued. If you want to use this without Bastarding I have provided a VT PM anyway.

Adam Malokovich - protector. Automatically protects Samus from NK and dies, stops a lynch if Samus is lynchee.
Galactic Federation Troopers - Townies
Science Team - Docs
Chozo Ghosts - Cops/1-Time Unlynchable

Samus Aran

You are the Hunter, known through the Galactic Federation Territories as a saviour and with a bounty worth enough to a space-pirate to guarantee him promotion to the highest level. You full range of capabilities outstrip your rivals in every possible way, you can even integrate them into your power suit once you get the basic techs...

However, as usual when you go somewhere new something happens to disable everything... this time it was a simple EMP field... Your abilities will recover with time however.

You start N1 with nothing more than your Paralyser. Fortunately it can stop Metroids in their tracks and weakens the Ing to lynches; and it causes GF battle suits to malfunction, killing them... N2 sees you recover some of your Ice Beam functionality. Your will be able to freeze Metroids and eliminate Ing without many problems. N3 you recover your Missiles and Ice Missiles, Metroids and Ing are easily killed and Corrupt Pirates don't stand much chance either. X is smart enough to keep clear if you fire an Ice Missile at it... N4 sees you recover you full capabilities. Nothing can stand in your path now.

Be warned, Samus, If you come up against Dark Samus or X before the right time, or if your caught unaware, you will be corrupted. If the one who corrupts you dies you take their place silently and will receive your new Role PM and alignment. You can be saved if a Class 3 doctor protects you before you become fully corrupted.

In addition to your NK, you can kill during the day by posting Kill: Player in thread. This will reveal you however and could lead to a nasty showdown...

Chozo

The wisest and most advanced race in the universe. You saved Samus from the Space-Pirates, trained her and gave her her power suit. In your travels across the universe you gained knowledge, and in turn aided planets and other life-forms to true prosperity. Through all this you became blessed with the ability to see exactly what's in front of you, friend, or foe?

Once per night you may look into a persons soul to determine if they're Scum or Not-Scum.

Galactic Federation Troopers (VT)

You are Marine (random number) Callsign (username) of the Galactic Federation Marine Corps. You have been called to the GFS Transporter MotherBird as they have been attacked. You've been sent in with your standard issue Rifle and some Science Team members for medical assistance.

Unfortunately, the standard rifles aren't known to be ammo-friendly, so you must conserve ammo and come to an agreement on who must be shot each day, its a democracy so you must Vote on it.

Galactic Federation Science Team

You are part of the science team research biowepaons on GFS Transporter MotherBird. The various bioforms include Metroids, Phazon based life and some Ing. Your orders are to protect the Chozo Ghosts, Samus and any GF troops on board while covering up any information about the bioweapon reasearch.

You can protect one person per night.

Chozo Ghost

The GFS Transporter MotherBird is in orbit above Decitia 3, a one of many former Chozo strongholds. The presence of Phazon, Metroids, X and Ing have awoken your spirit. You appear on-board the GFS MotherBird in the central room just as everyone gathers. Your latent abilities in life are ready to serve you once again in spirit and grant you the power to sift friend from foe by peering into their souls; however, this drains your already unstable existence and you are limited to use it once per night.

Please PM me whose soul you wish to peer into each night.

Enhanced Rules/Game Mechanics

  1. All power roles are based on "Card Mechanics" and each hand equates to a different role.
    • Each player is "dealt" 2 cards at random at the start and may request new ones before the start of each day.(Texas)
    • Each day begins with the flop, turn and river dealt out. (both)
    • The ability equates to the highest possible hand using both cards from the hand and 3 from the board (Omaha)
    • If needed, one deck will be used for assigning player roles and cards will be reused in on the board.
    • [A♣] [3♣] in the hand and [3♣] [4♣] [8♣] [K♠] [2♦] will still count as an Ace Flush of Clubs.
  2. I will use the notation [A23456789TJQK][♠] to illustrate which cards are on the board.
  3. Abilities can be used at any point via PM to the moderator
    • Abilities grouped using a slash (/) are all-in-one. You may only use one of the abilities separated by a dash (-)
  4. This game has an additional Betting mechanic.
    • Each player starts with 500 chips.
    • If you start a day with no chips, your out.
    • Feel free to make bets against other players in an attempt to out them.
    • All bets must be approved by the moderator.
    • All chance bets are run by the moderator, using a random.org
    • You can place bets on a game of "turn overs" using a either 3 or 5 cards.
  5. Chip counts can be called at any time.
  6. YOU MAY CALL ALL-IN AT ANY POINT.
    • As soon as you call All-In you may no longer post.
    • You must state what your bet or Winning Condition is.
      • If its stupid, you get 10 chips back and resume the game.
    • If approved and someone calls your All-In they match your bet and take the opposite position.
    • Whoever wins will take the chips from the All-Ins.
  7. Every player places 50 chips at the start of the day.
    • If you don't have enough chips, what you have will be placed in the pot..
      • You are allowed a single post stating your bet conditions.
      • If its not approved, your out.
  8. Pot Distribution
    • The highest hand will get 50% of the pot.
    • The second best hand will gain 25%.
    • The third will gain 15%
    • The fourth will receive the rest.
    • Anyone All-In will gain a maximum of their bet*players in game.
  9. SCUM HAVE NO NIGHTKILL UNLESS FROM A CARD ABILITY.

PM's

Townie

Your in this game for fun, you win some, you lose some is your motto. Unfortunately, some of the people your playing with are here to make money, no matter what the price. You come in with 500 chips and aim to leave with as much as you can. Your WinCon is to remove the Cheaters from the game by taking their chips or forcing them out by voting.

Scum

You've been playing poker long enough to know all the odds, the tricks and the tells... and enough to know how to cheat these poor saps out of their chips. You come to the table with (scum players), each armed with 500 chips and space yourselves around the table. Your WinCon is to get all the chips off these naive players who are in it for "a laugh". Even if it means getting them to turn on each other and remove them from the game.

Mod Note: There is no nightkill. You may communicate freely with your fellow scumbuddies in this QuickTopic.
