Revision as of 14:29, 23 September 2007

These are basic rules for any games moderated by somestrangeflea. These are subject to change under different circumstances, but, for the most part, rules will not differ far from these.

General

  • If you disagree with something the mod has done, or have a question about the game, feel free to PM.
  • Do not quote your role PMs to prove your innocence. Paraphrasing is acceptable, and if you are uncertain as to what is acceptable, PM me to check. Violators will be modkilled.
  • A majority of the votes is required to lynch a player. Votes are made in the format Vote: Playername. Votes that are not in this format will not count.
  • Please Unvote before voting a different player. This rule will not be enforced as strictly as the previous one, but it helps me count, so please!
  • Do not discuss this game outside this thread, unless you have a role which allows this, and even then, only at night.
  • If you're dead, you're dead, and since the dead aren't alive, you're dead. Stop posting. Players are allowed a single "Bah!" post, but not until the next day phase has begun.
  • If you have moderating powers in this forum, do not edit or delete the posts of either yourself or another player. If you are caught, you will be modkilled if you are playing, and blacklisted from future games, because I'm mean like that.
  • I reserve the right to lie in your role PMs. It could be minor, like giving you a sanity that reduces your role' effectiveness, or something major, like modkilling you if you post the letter "a".
  • Have fun! If you aren't having fun, I want to know why, and if you're stopping others from having fun, then you'll be dealt with, most likely by forced replacement. Don't take the game personally, and don't flame other players.

Day, Night, Twilight and Daybreak

  • During the Day phase, players will discuss and vote until a player has been lynched. You can vote for there to be No-Lynch, but this also requires a majority of votes.
  • Once the vote required to reach a majority has been cast, that person is dead. Unvoting will not undo the lynch, and the game will enter the Twilight Zone phase.
  • During the Twilight phase, players are still allowed to discuss, but votes will be ignored. The Twilight phase has an indeterminate length of time, as it is simply the length of time between the actual lynching vote, and the death scene/thread lock. The game then proceeds to the Night phase.
  • During the Night phase, any players who have powers which can be used at night can use their powers. This includes, but is not limited to, Mafia sending in their kill. The night phase has a deadline for actions, normally of around 3 real-life days. If you do not wish to make a choice, please send in "No Choice". If the deadline passes, and players who have a choice have not sent in a choice, all players who have not sent in a choice including those who do not have a choice, will be Nightprodded. Players will have 2 days to respond, and will be replaced if they do not, regardless of alignment. (Not in Newbie Games)
  • During the Night phase, any players who have powers which can be used at night can use their powers. This includes, but is not limited to, Mafia sending in their kill. The night phase has a deadline for actions, normally of around 3 real-life days. Players who do not send in a choice will be treated as having sent "No Choice". (Newbie Games only)
  • Daybreak follows Night, and is simply the period between the Nightchoice deadline and the thread being opened for Day to begin. Nightprods are sent during this time, and any choices sent during this time will be ignored. (Not in Newbie Games)

Inactivity, Prods and Deadlines

  • Lurking is not allowed as a strategy in this game, as it is highly likely to slow the game down to a halt. Any player who becomes inactive will be prodded after 3 days (weekends counting as 1), and will be replaced if there are no posts after 5 days of inactivity (weekends counting as 1). (Not in Large Games)
  • Lurking will be permitted as a strategy in this game. Players will be prodded on request, or after 10 days of inactivity (weekends counting as 1). Prods can be responded to by PM. Players will be replaced after 14 days of inactivity (weekends counting as one), but only if the prod has not been responded to. (Large Games only)
  • If you anticipate on being unavailable for more than a 2 day period (weekends counting as 1), then please inform us, either in thread, or by sending me a PM. Posting in the V/LA thread will not save you. Generally, absences of less than a week will be allowed, however longer absences will require a replacement.
  • If the thread activity falls too low, a retractable deadline will be set. The deadline will be retracted if activity picks up. If the day lasts too long (and I am the sole judge of what is "too long"), a non-retractable deadline will be set. When the deadline hits, the player with the most votes will be lynched, provided that player has gained a "majority majority" of the votes (ie. 5 votes with 18 alive). If there is a tie, then votes will be removed in the order in which they were placed, starting with the most recent vote, until one player has the most votes. That player will then be lynched.

Please read the above rules carefully, as a number of factors vary depending on the size and type of the game being played.
