I saw them as different things; I basically thought of SketchwicksGambit as claiming exactly your role except for trivial details like name and alignment. He also claimed before he got investigated. -- Norinel 2004-10-09 18:08 UTC


Indeed, the actual "Chainsaw Defence" from which this tactic gets its name was nothing of the sort. I never even implied that the maid was guilty, merely that the results had been misinterpreted. Claiming that your accuser is guilty and claiming your accuser is misinformed are two different things. Chainsaw Defence sounds would be better to describe a role-claim that ends up answering questions that weren't asked, like "Do you know Dr. Richard Kimball?" "I haven't seen Dr. Kimball." In this case having one's story straight backfires because it's a little too straight. This is essentially what the result was in Beach Resort Mafia. -- PolarBoy 2004-10-13 22:40 UTC
