Stack the Deck is an open game with 12 players, created as a Pick Your Poison and C9++ hybrid. As of December 2013 it is a standard open setup.

Setup

Mechanics

Modifications

During pre-game, mafia have 72 hours to select which (if any) of the modifications they want to their team. A maximum of three modifications may be selected.

  • Bulletproof
  • Role Cop
  • JOAT (1 shot Strongman, 1 shot Ninja)
  • Daytalk (passive ability)
  • Recruit Traitor as Mafia Goon

For each modification that is selected by the mafia, town gains an additional role as well. The town has two roles to start, resulting in a maximum of five town roles randomly selected from the following:

  • Goon Cop
  • Roleblocker
  • Tracker
  • Bodyguard
  • Vigilante
  • Innocent Child (reveal at start of day one)

The following things should be noted by mods:

  • At the beginning of the game all town aligned players receive a "Vanilla Town" role. Once mafia has selected their abilities all town roles go out. This prevents claims of "received roles before/after mafia modifications".
  • No player may receive more than one role/modification
  • The mafia traitor may not receive any abilities if not recruited as well.

Starting Role PMs

All of the following roles are distributed at random. No other roles should be passed out until after the modifications have taken place.

Mafia Goon

  • Welcome, [Player Name]. You are a Mafia Goon, along with your partner [Player Name]. Additionally you know a Mafia Traitor exists, but you do not know who they are

Abilities:

  • Factional communication: During the night phase you may talk with your partner(s) here [QuickTopic link].
  • Factional kill: Each night phase, one of you or your partners may perform the factional kill.
  • Before the game begins, you may choose up to three of the following abilities to add to your faction, but for each ability you add town will get an additional ability:
  1. Change a Mafia Goon to Mafia Role Cop
  2. Change a Mafia Goon to Mafia Bulletproof
  3. Change a Mafia Goon to Mafia JOAT (One Shot Ninja, One Shot Strongman)
  4. Recruit the Mafia Traitor as a Mafia Goon
  5. Enable passive daytalk

Win condition:

  • You win when all members of the town have been eliminated or nothing can prevent this from occurring.

Mafia Traitor

  • Welcome, [Player Name]. You are a Mafia Traitor. You know that [Player Name] and [Player Name] are Mafia Goons.

Abilities:

  • You have a one shot bulletproof ability if you are not recruited.
  • If you are not recruited and are the last surviving member of the mafia, you will take over the factional kill.
  • If you are recruited by the mafia you will become a mafia goon.

Win condition:

  • You win when all members of the town have been eliminated or nothing can prevent this from occurring.

Vanilla Townie

  • Welcome, [Player Name]. You are a Vanilla Townie.

Abilities:

  • You currently have no special abilities.

Win condition:

  • You win when all threats to the town are dead.

Modified Role PMs

Town Roles

After mafia has selected their modifications (if any) town roles from the following pool are distributed. No player may receive more than one of any of the roles and no more than one of any role may be present.

Goon Cop

  • Welcome, [Player Name]. You are now a Goon Cop.

Abilities:

  • Goon Cop: Each night phase, you may target one player in the game to investigate them. You will receive a result of "Goon", "Not A Goon", or "No Result".

Win condition:

  • You win if all threats to the town are eliminated and at least one town-aligned player is alive.

Roleblocker

  • Welcome, [Player Name]. You are now a Roleblocker.

Abilities:

  • Roleblock: Each night phase, you may target another player in the game to attempt to block them from performing any night actions.

Win condition:

  • You win if all threats to the town are eliminated and at least one town-aligned player is alive.

Innocent Child

  • Welcome, [Player Name]. You are now an Innocent Child.

Abilities:

  • Reveal: On Day 1, you will be publicly confirmed to be town.

Win condition:

  • You win if all threats to the town are eliminated and at least one town-aligned player is alive.

Tracker

  • Welcome, [Player Name]. You are now a Tracker.

Abilities:

  • Track: Each night phase, you may target one player in the game to track them. If successful, you will learn which players in the game they targeted that phase, if any.

Win condition:

  • You win if all threats to the town are eliminated and at least one town-aligned player is alive.

Bodyguard

  • Welcome, [Player Name]. You are now a Bodyguard.

Abilities:

  • Guard: Each night phase, you may target another player in the game to guard. If they would die that phase, you will die in their place.

Win condition:

  • You win if all threats to the town are eliminated and at least one town-aligned player is alive.

Vigilante

  • Welcome, [Player Name]. You are now a Vigilante.

Abilities:

  • Kill: Each night phase, you may target another player in the game to attempt to kill them.

Win condition:

  • You win if all threats to the town are eliminated and at least one town-aligned player is alive.

Mafia Roles

The mafia goons may select up to three of the following modifications. Multiple role modifiers may not go to the same player. This means a choice of "Bulletproof, Role Cop, JOAT" is an invalid option. A recruited goon may receive a role.

Mafia Bulletproof

  • Welcome, [Player Name]. You are now a Mafia Bulletproof

Additional Abilities

  • Bulletproof: Each night phase, you will be immune to all kills.

Mafia Role Cop

  • Welcome, [Player Name]. You are now a Mafia Role Cop

Additional Abilities

  • Role Cop: Each night phase, you may target one player in the game to investigate them. You will receive either their role name or "No Result". Goons and Vanilla Townies will return a result of "Vanilla".

Mafia JOAT

  • Welcome, [Player Name]. You are now a Mafia JOAT with a one shot ninja ability and a one shot strongman ability

Additional Abilities

  • Once during any night you may use a ninja kill. This kill will be unable to be tracked.
  • Once during any night you may use a strongman kill. This kill will unable to be blocked by any method.

Recruited Goon

  • Welcome, [Player Name]. You are now a Mafia Goon with [Player Name] who is a XXX and [Player Name] who is a YYY.

Additional Abilities
