In October 2006, [[MafiaScum]] experienced another moderate-sized crash. The reason is still not known{{verify}}, but several days of posts were lost and other strange bugs crept into the [[forums]] afterward. Nearly simultaneously, [[CPU quota]] errors popped up and [[Bluehost]] shut the site down temporarily. The site was down for nearly a month, prompting many newer players to leave.

Eventually things were sorted out and the site came back up, but some games struggled with finding [[replacement]]s afterward. Eventually, the site upgraded to a newer hosting plan and became larger and more active than before.
