Marathon Day was instituted by mith in 2007 for "International Mafia Day Month". It resulted in a new Game Forum for playing as many quick pick-up games as possible on March 28th (MafiaScum.net's anniversary date). Moderating requirements were relaxed for those games, and 22 games eventually ran successfully during the 'day' (actually slightly over 24 hours).
PookyTheMagicalBear ended up winning a special Scummie that year, partly due to his remarkable winning streak in Marathon games.
Due to some complaints about holding a Marathon on a Wednesday, the 2008 Marathon Day is scheduled for Saturday, March 29, from 00:00 GMT until 07:00 GMT of March 30.
