| Hidden amongst all the "lol cocks" and the shitposting, there's little nuggets of wisdom in GD. Especially when you're a sheltered young teenager lurking every thread from Polyamory and Guys, Pt. 2 to the various political threads. It wasn't even just the threads, though. I almost cried the first time I read Furry's wiki. Even though I'm essentially in retirement from mafia and I've barely posted at all in the past two and a half years, something, whether it's habit, emotional attachment, or something else, keeps me coming back.

| Some people look back at old games and remember their play, remember particularly gutting losses or that $#@!ing idiot that self-hammered. I think of Death at the Ren Faire, a newbie game from four years ago. I ponder that my life would be drastically, ''unimaginably'' different now if Nikanor hadn't replaced into that game because of the set of resulting events that fell into place. If you'd have told me then that I'd eat chicken feet with him irl, that he'd be the first person I drunk messaged and that he'd introduce me to an irc mafia community that would change my life and so many other things, I never would've believed you. I look back at some game I modded with the knowledge that (a long time later) I nearly ended up dating someone on that player list. There's PMs in my inbox of fourteen-year-old-me getting "relationship" advice from SocioPath (and I ate chicken feet with him irl, too, for what it's worth!)

| But most notably, and perhaps most surprisingly, I technically met the best person I've ever known on Scumchat. He is the best thing that ever came out of me signing up for this site on a forgettable March evening back in the eighth grade, hands down. "Best friend" doesn't quite fit - doesn't have the right magnitude - to describe DeathRowKitty. I just know that there's a piece of me 3000 miles away at an engineering college.

| I could go on and on and still not recognize every user on this site that has impacted me on a personal level, so I'll stop there. It's been one hell of a four and a half years, but ultimately, I'm grateful for the opportunity I've had here to learn about everything from logical fallacies to off-color sexual decisions to unconditional love. Thanks and I love you all, even the eighty-one people on my foe list...maybe.
