Games as Crypto

Newbie 777 [1]

Outcome: Town victory.

Role: Vanilla townie.

Notes: I bludgeoned my way to an obvious scum lynch on day 1. And of course it resulted in a less-than-admirable performance on days 2 and 3 (heck, day 1 would have been disastrous had we continued to pursue James.Denholm, resident doc and in hindsight much more pro-town than my absolutely idiotic meta gave him credit for). Still, it was a very good introduction to Mafia, and a fun game in and of itself: suspenseful, well paced, and populated with intelligent players. Xtoxm (mafia), put on a show as the IC, surviving to the endgame after losing his inexperienced teammate on day 1.

Newbie 805 [2]

Outcome: Town victory.

Role: Vanilla townie.

Notes: Fast match, but extremely frustrating. We got an outrageously lucky day 1 lurker lynch. The roleblocker's death meant we could follow the cop with ease: anticlimactic, but I was glad to get out of there. My short temper (school during May and June does bad things for my temper), which I failed miserably to contain, alienated just about the entire town to the point where people were building cases on my personality rather than my actions and ignoring my one correct scum read. Ultimately I felt that the town played poorly as a team. A number of players seemed not to differentiate between scum tells and . . . everything else.

Mini 827 [3]

Outcome: Cult victory.

Role: Town doctor turned cultist.

Notes: Existence of a cult that can recruit every night plus obscene amount of lurking equals town loss. Very frustrating, but it was interesting to see how a lot of my observations would have fit together perfectly if I'd realized there were so many cult members on day 3. After one game of experience, it's official: I hate cults. I did catch one scum and supported Goatrevolt's case on another (before Goat betrayed us for the cult), but getting recruited into the cult on the last night is a lame way to win. A lot of fun players survived a long time.

Mini 842 [4]

Outcome: Mafia victory.

Role: Vanilla townie.

Notes: Here I learn the value of intuition. I picked up two correct scum reads but shelved them because they involved too much gut and too little logic. We (the town) played horribly on day 1, but we pulled it together on days 2 and 3, and the three surviving townies could have won if they hadn't gotten hung up on some accidental inconsistencies what turned out to be an honest pro-town role claim. All three members of the mafia played very well, making the most of our blunders.

Quotes

Crypto lives up to his username as well.

And, to parrot what crypto said

—James.Denholm

My thinking has been more-or-less paralell to crypto's at this moment

—James.Denholm

My comments wouldn't aid the town at all, after all, crypto has already covered them.

—James.Denholm

The thing is, crypto's already covered all my points. There's no point in me parroting him.

—James.Denholm

A mixture of my own suspicions and being convinced by crypto.

—James.Denholm

Once again, my thoughts more-or-less mirror crypto's

—James.Denholm

This man speaks the truth.

—Snow White

I can whole heartedly say that you and goat have been two of the most skilled and fun players i have played with to date.

—Snow White

Cryptolicate

—SpyreX

SC gets mad props for killing crypto.

—SpyreX

Crypto was the shot because a.) he was bleeding town from his pores and b.) he would have put SC in a noose faster than life itself.

—SpyreX

Oh, crypto is a House-fan. This explains a lot of his ridiculous behavior.

—Tuberkulos

As I said earlier today, I think Excedrin or BAS is scum. But it's fun that we lynched crypto.

—Tuberkulos

If only crypto had been alive at the endgame.
