"Chicago Typewriter" was one of the many slang terms used for the M1921 Thompson submachine gun (also known alternatively the tommy gun or trench sweeper). This weapon would see widespread use from inception in 1921 up to and including service use during WWII (as the redesigned M1928A1 or M1A1) before eventually being replaced in US service by the 1950s by the M3/M3A1. It's use afterwards continued in various militaries around the world (mostly either as secondhand supplied weapons from the US or stolen secondhand weapons from said supplied forces) and exists as a functional but outdated weapon to this day. It was used widely by both Prohibition Era gangsters and law enforcement for it's low cost, availability, ease of use, and effective fire rate, cementing it as the iconic weapon of choice for the 1930s ''mafioso'' alongside the classic pinstripes and hat.

Name Origin

"Chicago Typewriter" was one of the many slang terms used for the M1921 Thompson submachine gun (also known alternatively as the tommy gun or trench sweeper). It was used widely by both Prohibition Era gangsters and law enforcement for it's low cost, availability, ease of use, and effective fire rate, cementing it as the iconic weapon of choice for the 1930s mafioso alongside the classic pinstripes and hat.

Undoubtedly, there were additionally many conventional typewriters in Chicago as well.

Playstyle

I've been described as a conservative player. It's probably accurate. I also have a habit of using Latin phrases when I feel the situation calls for it.

  • alea iacta est - "The die is cast." (A necessary risk has been taken.)
  • medice, cura te ipsum - "Doctor, cure thyself!" (Don't complain about problems you can solve by yourself.)

Game History

(Completed games only, no ongoing games will be posted here. I'll try to keep it relatively current, no promises.)
