Immutable Rules

R101: Authority of Rules

All players must always abide by all the rules then in effect. These rules only apply within the realm of the game, which consists of the wiki page and the game thread, as well as anywhere else defined by these rules.

R102: Players

A player is considered active when they post /in in the game thread. A player is considered inactive if they have not posted in a week. An inactive player can be considered active if they post re-/in. Inactive players may discuss in the game thread, but may not submit or vote upon proposals. A player is also considered inactive if they post /out.

R103: Ability to Change Rules

No rule can be made to stop further amendments, additions, deletions or changes to the rules.

R104: Editing and Deleting Posts

No-one may edit or delete any post on the the game thread, with the exception of the initial post, which may be edited to display important information at the discretion of the moderator.

R105: Dominance of Immutable Rules

Immutable rules automatically override mutable rules unless an immutable rule specifies otherwise.

R106: Player Votes

All active players are eligible to vote and have a single vote.

R107: Transmutation of Immutable Rules

All immutable rules may be transmuted to mutable rules by unanimous consent. Immutable rules may not be amended or repealed unless first transmuted to mutable rules.

R108: Transmutation of Mutable Rules

All mutable rules may be transmuted to immutable rules by a supermajority.

R109: Voting Threshold Definitions

Unaminous consent is defined as 100% of the active votes in support. A supermajority is defined as greater than 2/3 of the active votes in support. An absolute majority is defined as greater than 50% of the active votes in support. A plurality is defined as having the most votes in support of it in comparison to the competing options. For the purposes of calculating the number of active votes, tally up the total number of votes possessed by all of the active players in the game.

R110: New Rules

All new rules are mutable.

Mutable Rules

R201: Minimum Number of Active Players

No proposals can be voted upon, enacted, or failed without at least 3 active players.

R202: Naming System

Proposals shall begin numbering at P001 and count up by each ordinal number. When a proposal is made a new rule, the new rules will begin numbering at R301 and count up by each ordinal number. When a proposal amends a rule, -A1 shall be added to end of the rule number. The number will count up by each ordinal number for subsequent amendments. The original text of the rule, prior to any amendments, shall be designated by the suffix -A0.

R203: Definition of Amendment

Amendments can modify the rule they are a part of. When two amendments to the same rule conflict, the higher amendment number takes precedence.

R204: Minimum Number of Votes for Mutable Rules

New rules require an absolute majority to pass, and mutable rules can be amended or repealed by absolute majority.

R205: Resolution of Rule Conflicts

Whenever a mutable law conflicts with a mutable law, or an immutable law conflicts with an immutable law, the lowest ordinal shall take precedence unless otherwise dictated by the laws involved. If both defer to each other, then the number rule applies again.

R206: Acceptable Voting Methods

Votes for proposals should be done using the vote tags and include "Yea" or "Nay" and include the proposal number. Voting can also be done by using heal and hurt tags around the proposal number, where a 'heal' vote indicates a "Yea" vote and a "hurt" tag indicates a 'Nay' vote. A player can also abstain from voting; their vote will not be counted among the number of active votes.

R206-A0

Votes for proposals should be done using the vote tags and include "Yea" or "Nay" and include the proposal number. A player can also abstain from voting; their vote will not be counted among the number of active votes.

R206-A1 (P002)

R206 shall be amended to the following: Votes for proposals should be done using the vote tags and include "Yea" or "Nay" and include the proposal number. Voting can also be done by using heal and hurt tags around the proposal number, where a 'heal' vote indicates a "Yea" vote and a "hurt" tag indicates a 'Nay' vote. A player can also abstain from voting; their vote will not be counted among the number of active votes.

R207: Maintaining the Wiki

A current list of all rules, players, proposals, and other important information shall be maintained by all players on the wiki page. The list can be updated by any player, active or inactive. The moderator should set a precedent for the format that all other players shall follow. If a player is unsure of how something should be formatted, they should ask in the Nomic thread. Should any player edit the wiki page not in accordance with the rules of the game, the edit shall be rolled back.

R301: Reputation (P001)

A currency shall be established called Reputation. When a proposal is passed, the creator of said proposal shall gain a number of Reputation equal to the number of votes for said proposal. Additionally, all players who voted for said proposal shall gain 1 Reputation. This applies retroactively.

R302: Self-Voting (P003)

Someone is assumed to already be voting for their own proposal unless otherwise stated.

R303: Amendments to Proposals (P005)

Any proposal currently under discussion can be altered by the player who proposed it, so long as the major focus of the proposal is not altered. When the player does such, all votes for the proposal except for that of the player who proposed it are removed.

R304: Calls for Judgement (P006)

If players disagree about the legality of a rule or the interpretation of a rule, a player can request a Call for Judgement, beginning with CfJ001. Any player may propose a verdict for the disagreement, beginning with CfJ001-V1. Players use vote tags to support a verdict, in the form VOTE: CfJ001-V1. Players who propose a verdict assumed to be voting for their own verdict until they vote otherwise.

Once a verdict reaches a majority of active player's votes, it is determined as the official ruling on the Call for Judgement. If all players are voting for a verdict, the verdict with the most votes wins. If there is a tie, the verdict proposed by the player with more reputation wins. If there is still a tie, the CfJ is not resolved until the circumstances change.

R305: Rule Titles (P009)

Rules shall have titles; any proposal suggesting a rule must also suggest a title for said rule. Existing rules can be given titles or have their titles altered by titling proposals, beginning with T001.

R306: Hit Points

Every player has a property called "Hit Points." Each player starts with 10 Hit Points. A player may spend 20 reputation to cause another player to lose 1 hit point. A player may spend 25 reputation to cause another player to gain 1 hit point.

R306-A0 (P010)

Every player has a property called "Hit Points." Each player starts with 10 Hit Points.

R306-A1 (P017)

Amend R306 by appending: A player may spend 20 reputation to cause another player to lose 1 hit point.

R306-A2 (P018)

Amend R306 by appending: A player may spend 25 reputation to cause another player to gain 1 hit point.

R307: Title Uniqueness (P012)

Each proposal or rule must be given a unique title

R308: Proposal Withdrawals (P015)

A person may withdraw their own proposal if the voting period is still active.

Calls for Judgement

CfJ001

There is no provision in the rules for one-time effects. Thus, this CfJ is established to determine the legality of P019.

CfJ001-V1

Proposed by Invisibility

One-time events should be in their own section on the wiki page and be numbered E01 and so on. They are still voted on as proposals.

Votes: Invisibility, 2 718281828459

CfJ001-V2

Proposed by Allomancer

As there is no provision in the rules for one-time events, P019 shall be declared null and void. The rationale for this verdict over V1 is that Calls for Judgement should aim to be as unintrusive to the game as possible and are intended to determine the interpretation of the rules. V1 aims to establish a new rule, rather than interpret existing rules.

Votes: Charles510

CfJ001-V3

Proposed by Charles510

As there is no provision in the rules for one-time events, P019 should be interpreted as a new rule proposal.

Votes:

CfJ001-V4

Proposed by Allomancer

As P019 has since been withdrawn, this Call for Judgement shall be resolved with no further action.

A player may choose to spend reputation in the market. No one may "reserve" or "pre-order" shares. The price for the first share is 1 reputation, the next is 2, then 3, etc. Of course, we are all buying from the same supply, and so the price for the next share is equal to (# of shares currently owned by all players + 1). You can also sell a share. The sell-back price is equal to the number of current investors. The cooldown between any two market actions is 20 hours.
