Disjoint is a modifier that causes a role's results to be sent to another target player. This modifier only makes sense for investigative roles.

Standard version

A Disjoint role chooses a target to send results to and a target to investigate. The player chosen to receive results will receive results on the player who was investigated. In the case of a Disjoint investigative role failing, no results PM will be sent (as Disjoint investigative roles don't expect results PMs).

A Disjoint Cop would have "{player} is Town/Not Town" results sent to another target player for example.

Variations

There are four ways a Disjoint role could work:

  • Selectable variant - The Disjoint role chooses a target to send results to every time they act. This is the standard version of Disjoint.
  • Predetermined variant - The Disjoint role has a target predetermined by the moderator. Usually, this type of Disjoint role is not aware of who gets their results.
  • Randomized variant - The Disjoint role has a random target each time. This is of course a random element serving to take away predictability, and usually this type of Disjoint role does not learn who gets their results.
  • Fixed variant - The Disjoint role chooses a target to send results to the first time they act, then any time the Disjoint role acts their results are sent to the target that was chosen to receive results.

Sample Role PMs

The standardized Role PM for "Amnesiac" describes the modifier as follows:

  • As a modifier on a single ability: This action targets an additional player - that additional player will receive the action's results instead of you. (edit)
  • As a modifier that affects all abilities: Your actions that would normally give you results target an additional player - that additional player will receive the action's results instead of you. (edit)

Example (modifying a single ability)

Welcome to game! You are a Town Amnesiac Jailkeeper.

You have the following active ability:

  • Each Night, you may target a player. Assuming no interference with your action, that player will be protected from kills that night, but all their actions will be blocked that night. This action targets an additional player - that additional player will receive the action's results instead of you.

You win if all threats to the town are eliminated and at least one town-aligned player is alive.

Confirm by replying to this PM with a summary of your role.

Example (affecting all abilities)

Welcome to game! You are a Town Amnesiac Jack of All Trades Tracker Doctor.

Your actions that would normally give you results target an additional player - that additional player will receive the action's results instead of you.

You have the following active abilities, but may use only one per Night:

  • Once in the game at night, you may target a player. Assuming no interference with your action, you will learn who that player targeted that night. (You will get "no result" if this action is blocked.)
  • Once in the game at night, you may target a player. Assuming no interference with your action, that player will be protected from one kill that night.

You win if all threats to the town are eliminated and at least one town-aligned player is alive.
