ParserFunctions

ok, i'm trying to create a template for the vote counts we use on the Game pages... i was wondering if there's a ParserFunction to help w/ this... for example, let's say in the vote count you have 3 people that were voted, then the template would include a variable that equals 3, and the template would create 3 lines... maybe something like a table function?..

{{3|
{|
|-
|votee
|voters
|-
|votee
|voters
|-
|votee
|voters
|}
}}

if you think there's something like that that would work, just point me in the right direction, and i'll try to figure it out on my own... thanks for all your help!

Voting

voting is basically simple majority [<# of players>/2 +1 (rounded down)] (example: 7 players - 4 votes to lynch, 6 players - 4 votes to lynch, etc.)... as far as function of voting, you would have to understand how Mafia works... (suggested reading: Main Page#About Mafia, Lynch) hope that helps, lol...

concerning the template, the types of input i'm thinking about would be <# of votees>, then for each votee, you would have <# of votes>, <player name>, <voters>... i think that's about it, i'm just looking to simplify it into 1 template instead of having to create a line for each votee (example: Mini 280#Day 1)

i understand you're probably busy, and i don't expect a fast or easy answer, thanks

Templates

can you do templates inside of templates?.. i think i know how i could get to work if you can...

Template:nchoice

is there any way to set up the template so that you can use or NOT use the variables?.. Template talk:nchoice

external editor

*copied from Mr. Flay's talk page

while i was working on the gamebox template, i ran into the 'Grey Screen of Death'... i know i can check the box in Preferences:Editing to "Use external editor by default" & "Use external diff by default"... i was just wondering if you knew of any good freeware or shareware (read i'm really cheap) programs that i could use... right now i'm starting to use Notepad, but i'd like to use a program that has a preview function in it until i can paste it into the wiki...-- LyingBrian 01:22, 21 August 2007 (MDT)

watchlist

yes, i am aware i have 'my watchlist', but i like mine organized by subject, forum, etc., not whichever ones been updated most recently... if i'm looking for a page that hasn't been updated in awhile, it can be hard to find there... i'm using my sub-pages as sort of an internal 'bookmarks' list, but thanks for the tip nonetheless...-- LyingBrian 01:26, 21 August 2007 (MDT)

vote count template

see my thoughts on the table @ Talk:Game Template#Vote Counts... basically i'm looking for a template that automatically applies the same formatting whenever it sees a new line... i'm picturing the syntax to look something like the following:

{{votes
|-
|# a|Target a|Votees a
|-
|# b|Target b|Votees b
|-
|# c|Target c|Votees c
}}

you could then create a new line for each new target... my thinking is this would simplify it a bit, so you could use the above "template" instead of the current template 3x...

{{votes|# a|Target a|Votees a}}
{{votes|# b|Target b|Votees b}}
{{votes|# c|Target c|Votees c}}

hopefully that clarifies what i'm looking for a bit... i don't think a template that counts the voter/votee pairs is what i'm looking for as that sounds like more typing (b/c you have to type the votees name each time), and i'm looking for less typing...-- LyingBrian 01:46, 21 August 2007 (MDT)

forum/wiki login

Just as a head's up, jeep is planning on unifying the user database for the wiki with the much larger one from the forum in the near future, so if you find yourself unable to login anymore, you may wish to go there and duplicate your name, even if you aren't going to play any games. :) -- Mr. Flay 11:09, 21 August 2007 (MDT)
