The role of Universal Backup is almost always a pro-town role.
This role starts the game as a vanilla townie, but whenever the first pro-town power role dies (i.e. Doctor, Cop, Vigilante, etc.), the Universal back-up inherits that power role. This role is considered to be more powerful than Deputy, Nurse, or Retired Cop, but it can increase the swinginess of the game.
The player may or may not know that they are a universal back-up.
Mod's Notes
The term "power role" is ambiguous and up to the mod's discretion which roles are inheritable. It is important to plan out which pro-town non-vanilla roles have potential to be inherited by the Universal Back-Up. If the game has multiple killing roles with potential for multiple power role deaths, then the mod must resolve which killer strikes first.
