A VIP is a role who can target a player at Night to have them take a kill for the VIP (effectively making them a Bodyguard targeting the VIP). They effectively can use other players as human shields.

Standard version

A VIP redirects a single kill targeting them to their target. A Strongman kill cannot be redirected in this way.

Variations

Bodyguard is the inverse of this role, a Bodyguard will take a kill for their target.

Use & Balance

A VIP is effectively an easily confirmable Bulletproof conditional Vigilante. It is therefore a very strong role.

The standardized Role PM for "VIP" describes the action as follows:

  • As a targeted action: you will protect yourself from one kill that night. If you were targeted by a kill that night, you will attempt to kill your target. (edit)

Example (simplest form)

Welcome to game! You are a Town VIP.

You have the following active ability:

  • Each Night, you may target a player. Assuming no interference with your action, you will protect yourself from one kill that night. If you were targeted by a kill that night, you will attempt to kill your target.

You win if all threats to the town are eliminated and at least one town-aligned player is alive.

Confirm by replying to this PM with a summary of your role.

Example (with modifiers)

Welcome to game! You are a Town 1-shot Loud VIP.

You have the following active ability:

  • Once in the game at Night, you may target a player. Assuming no interference with your action, you will protect yourself from one kill that night. If you were targeted by a kill that night, you will attempt to kill your target. Your target will learn that you targeted them (but not what action you targeted them with).

You win if all threats to the town are eliminated and at least one town-aligned player is alive.
