Spiteful is a modifier that causes you to also target anyone attempting to kill your target, regardless of whether the kill was ultimately successful or not.

Standard version

Spiteful roles are also considered to be targeting anyone attempting to kill the Spiteful role's target. For example, a Spiteful Cop targeting a player who the Mafia attempted to kill will get Cop results for both the intended target and the Mafioso who carried out the factional kill.

Spiteful roles will target someone attempting to kill their target regardless of what happens to the kill.

Spiteful stops at one iteration. A Spiteful role won't target someone attempting to kill someone attempting to kill their target.

The standardized Role PM for "Spiteful" describes the modifier as follows:

  • As a modifier on a single ability: You will also target anyone attempting to kill your target with this action. (edit)
  • As a modifier that affects all abilities: You will also target anyone attempting to kill your target with your actions. (edit)

Example (modifying a single ability)

Welcome to game! You are a Town Spiteful Jailkeeper.

You have the following active ability:

  • Each Night, you may target a player. Assuming no interference with your action, that player will be protected from kills that night, but all their actions will be blocked that night. You will also target anyone attempting to kill your target with this action.

You win if all threats to the town are eliminated and at least one town-aligned player is alive.

Example (affecting all abilities)

Welcome to game! You are a Town Spiteful Jack of All Trades Tracker Doctor.

You will also target anyone attempting to kill your target with your actions.

You have the following active abilities, but may use only one per Night:

  • Once in the game at night, you may target a player. Assuming no interference with your action, you will learn who that player targeted that night. (You will get "no result" if this action is blocked.)
  • Once in the game at night, you may target a player. Assuming no interference with your action, that player will be protected from one kill that night.
