Plurality voting is a voting method wherein decisions are made based on who has the most votes, regardless of whether it is a majority. Most Mafia games require a majority vote.

Plurality voting usually comes into effect if no player has a majority of votes at a Day's deadline, though usually only if lynching is compulsive.

A moderator using plurality voting will have to decide what happens when there is a tie at the deadline. It is suggested that ties should be treated as a no lynch.

An advantage of using a plurality voting system is that it allows a dominant group of players to decide the lynch, even if they cannot get a majority in the end. On the other hand, with plurality lynching a lynch can be achieved with just two or three votes (possibly put down by scum).
