Modern Trio is a open set-up for 9 players that aims to play much like a regular game of mafia following modern design principles by combining three separate set-ups.
Setup
At the start, the Mod randomly picks either set-up A, B or C:

- 1 One-shot Friendly Neighbor

Mechanics
- Daystart
- The Motion Detector detects whether their target takes an action and/or was targeted with an action that Night. The Motion Detector does not see itself for the purposes of the results.
Role PM's
Mafia Goon
You are a Mafia Goon. XXX is your partner.
Every Night you may talk to XXX here and one of you can go out and kill a player of your choice.
You win with the mafia.
Mafia Role Cop
You are a Mafia Role Cop. XXX is your partner.
Every Night you may talk to XXX here and one of you can go out and kill a player of your choice. In addition, you get to investigate a player every Night and find out their role.
You win with the the mafia.
Vanilla Townie
You are a Vanilla Townie.
Your power is your vote. Use it wisely!
You win with the town.
Town Jailkeeper
You are a Jailkeeper.
Every night you may throw someone in the jail. This will both protect them and prevent them from taking any night actions.
You win with the town.
Town One-shot Friendly Neighbor
You are a One-Shot Friendly Neighbor.
Once during the game, during the Night, you may send your friendly greetings to a player of your choice. This will confirm your alignment to them.
You win with the town.
Town Motion Detector
You are a Motion Detector.
Every night you may pick a target. At the end of the Night you will receive "Motion detected" if they took an action and/or if an action was taken by them during that Night Phase. You will not detect your own action.
You win with the town.
