Mini 49: The Restaurant At The End Of The Universe Mafia was a mini themed mafiascum game played in the Coney Island forum. It lasted from August 5th, 2003 until (55 days, 12 hours, and 43 minutes) and featured a total of 307 posts. The Town won this game.

Pregame Flavor

A tall, thin, gangling figure suddenly springs on the stage and addresses the assorted audience.

“The Universe as we know it has now been in existence for over one hundred and seventy thousand million billion years and will be ending in a little over half an hour. So, welcome one and all to Milliways, the Restaurant at the End of the Universe!"

The vast golden dome above them began very very slowly to dim, to darken, to fade.

"Ladies and gentlemen," he breathed, "the candles are lit, the band plays softly, and as the force-shielded dome above us fades into transparency, revealing a dark and sullen sky hung heavy with the ancient light of livid swollen stars, I can see we're all in for a fabulous evening's apocalypse!"

"Every half hour, we will turn the lights completely off for 10 minutes for you to enjoy the utter destruction. It will be just like night, won't it? The last night of the universe, and we're all partying at the wake!

Suddenly, the soft tootling of the band faded away as stunned shock descended on all those who had not seen this sight before. A monstrous, grisly light poured in on them, a hideous light, a boiling, pestilential light, a light that would have disfigured hell. The Universe was coming to an end.

For a few interminable seconds the Restaurant span silently through the raging void. Then Max spoke again. "For those of you who ever hoped to see the light at the end of the tunnel," he said, "this is it."

The band struck up again.

"Thank you, ladies and gentlemen," cried Max, "I'll be back with you again in just a moment, and meanwhile I leave you in the very capable hands of Mr Reg Nullify and his cataclysmic Combo. Big hand please ladies and gentlemen for Reg and the boys!"

The baleful turmoil of the skies continued.

You find yourself, blearily, in the restaurant, seated at a single table. A single table, of course, means it's 1/10 the size of a table for four - you have to put the pepperpot on the floor to actually get a plate on it. You remember who you are, but are having trouble with remember little petty things, like who your friends are, what they look like, and who would love to have your head on a plate. Must be the time-lag. The ones out to get you aren't going to move openly, but you find a card on your table saying "When the lights are on, let's get rid of the ones after us." But... who are they? And what do they have planned for the 10-minute intervals the lights are off? The last thing you think to yourself, of course, is "Where's my drink?". A natural reaction for any sentinent being.

Night 0

Night 0 ended with reveal that Orbiting (Hotblack Desiato) had been night-killed. However since Hotblack Desiato was already considered as dead at the beginning of the game, he re-death didn't matter much. Orbiting was allowed to continue to post and vote.

Day 1

Day 1 ended with the elimination of Foolster41, a mafia goon.

mathcam and mith start the game off with a bit of theory about the proper way of starting out a game of mafia. But Foolster41 quickly gets tired of the game theory conversation and pushed for a bandwagon on mith to get a roleclaim. He is quickly counter-bandwagoned and claims the restaurant waiter who can poison (1-shot vigilante). After the claim, the bandwagon fractures and bane221 goes under suspicion for his lack of contribution to the game. But deadline starts to loom and the town decides that they don't really believe Foolster41's roleclaim and he is eliminated.

Night 1

Night 1 ends with the reveal that jadesmar (Dish of the Day) had suicided and killed two pro-town players (Darkblade (Zarniwoop) and mith (Zaphod Beeblebrox)). shelper (Ford Prefect) was night-killed by the mafia and Orbiting (Hotblack Desiato) lost the ability to vote, but can still talk.

  • bane221 (Arthur Dent) investigates PolarBoy (Hotblack's Bodyguard) and gets a guilty result
  • Kerplunk (Marvin) investigates Leonidas (Max Quordlepleen), but gets no result
  • Leonidas (Max Quordlepleen) night-kills shelper (Ford Prefect)
  • mathcam (Trillian) investigates Leonidas (Max Quordlepleen) and gets an innocent result
  • Darkblade (Zarniwoop) checks mith (Zaphod Beeblebrox) and learns that he's Zaphod Beeblebrox
  • mith (Zaphod Beeblebrox) investigates jadesmar (Dish of the Day), but gets no result
  • shelper (Ford Prefect) investigates PolarBoy (Hotblack's Bodyguard), but gets no result
  • jadesmar (Dish of the Day) suicide-bombs himself killing Darkblade (Zarniwoop) on purpose and mith (Zaphod Beeblebrox) randomly
  • PolarBoy (Hotblack's Bodyguard) night-kills bane221 (Arthur Dent) (Note: due to mod error, bane221 continued to post during Day 2)
  • Orbiting (Hotblack Desiato) loses the ability to vote

Night 1 lasted 3 days, 16 hours, and 1 minutes.

Day 2

Day 2 ended with the elimination of PolarBoy, a one-shot vigilante.

The death of multiple townies on Night 1 was followed by a floud of role claims on Day 2. The general consensus was that there was 1 mafia member left and bane221 had come forward with a guilty result on PolarBoy. So PolarBoy was relunctantly eliminated.

Night 2 ended with the reveal that no one died.

  • bane221 (Arthur Dent) investigates mathcam (Trillian), but gets no result
  • Kerplunk (Marvin) investigates mathcam (Trillian), but gets no result
  • mathcam (Trillian) investigates bane221 (Arthur Dent), but gets no result
  • Dourgrim (Zarquon) protects mathcam (Trillian)
  • bane221 (Arthur Dent) dies retroactively due to mod error
  • Obiting (Hotblack Desiato) loses the ability to post and is out of the game

Night 2 lasted 7 days, 5 hours, and 59 minutes.

Day 3

Day 3 ends with a no elimination.

Early in the day, Leonidas is asked to claim and he claims the role of the Great Prophet Zarquar. It's immediately noticed that it's a misspeling of the role that Dourgrim already claimed. Leonidas also claims that the game would end early if he claimed while being voted and feared that mathcam's vote on him may have triggered it.

Night 3 ended with the reveal that no one died.

  • Dougrim (Zarquon) protects mathcam (Trillian)

Night 3 lasted 1 days, 13 hours, and 13 minutes.

Day 4

Day 4 again ends with the elimination of Leonidas (Max Quordlepleen), the Mafia Godfather.

mathcam looked over his notes and realized that he had gotten Leonidas' role name in his investigation results. Since Leonidas' lie was uncovered, the game quickly ended.
