This wiki houses three types of people: Those that couldn't give a fudge about the MafiaWiki, those that have MediaWiki skills and can conjure up anything they want on a wiki-page and those that aspire to become a Wiki-Wizard. To check which category each scummer fits into all you need to do is search for their user page. If it doesn't exist; they belong to the "Fudge Wiki" group, if it looks fancy and awe inspiring they are one of the "Wiki-Wizards" and if it looks like someone attempted to make their scummer-page look good (when actually it's pretty awful) they belong to the "Wannabe-Wiki-Wizards".

The fact that you're on this page means that you are probably from this group. You aspire to make your scummer-page as good us those stuck-up "wizards", however you lack the sacred knowledge or creativity to make it look decent.

Well, you're in the right place, this page is all about making an amazing scummers-page, wgeurts has taken the time to research the ancient manuscripts and translate them into a language understandable by all.

Step 1: Making the user-page redirect to the scummer-page

Due to the technical admins we all have two user pages for some odd reasons, one prefaced by "User:" the other not. For example wgeurts has the pages wgeurts and User:wgeurts. To make the "User:-Name-" page redirect to the other one (this allows for quicker searches as users don't need to type "User:" to find your page) add the following to your page which is called User:*Whatever your MafiaScum username is*:

#REDIRECT *Whatever your MafiaScum username is*

You have now completed step 1, now it's time to actually make the page (and it's sub-pages).

Step 2: Making the sub-pages

A good scummer-page will have information on that users played games, modded games and that sort of information. Make pages for each separate topic in the following manner:

If you're making a sub-page for "Played-Games" then make a page called:

*Your Scummer-Page/Played-Games

So in my case "Wgeurts/Played-Games". Do this for each separate topic, changing the "/Played-Games" to whatever you want. For the sake of example this guide is going to use "Example/Played-Games" and "Example/Modded-Games".

Once you've made all the pages you need move on to step 3.

Step 3: Navigation

The most important thing for any website is how easy it is to navigate, the same applies to your scummer-page. I'm going to explain three different methods of navigation between your pages: Tabs, Nav-Bar by WikiTables and Nav-Bar by MafiaWikiNavbars.

Tabs

There are a few tab templates floating around the wiki however the best one is made by UberNinja this is what they will look like when set up:

Pretty cool huh? The template used to make these looks complex but is actually rather simple. First you add:

After the "s=" right the number of the tab that you want "selected", in the example I put "1" here so the first is selected. Now it's time to add the tabs themselves. Due to the way UberNinja made the template you can have a max of seven tabs, however it's unlikely you'll need more.

First add this behind the "s=" and "}}":

t1=|l1=

Looks cryptic doesn't it? It's actually quite simple; the "t1" stands for "Text 1" and the "l1" for "Link 1". Type the text you want on the first tab after "t1=" and the name of the page (this is case-sensitive) you want the tab to link to after "l1=". If you then want a second tab add "|t2=|l2=" and repeat the process until you've setup all the tabs you want. The syntax I used for the example was:

WikiTable Nav-Bar

It is also possible to make a navigation bar using wiki table syntax, I've stolen this design from Wisdom's scummer page:

Example Played-Games Modded-Games

Also looks good doesn't it? This navigation bar will be easier for user with moderate knowledge of MediaWiki syntax to fiddle with, it also has an unlimited amount of possible links. Here's how to do it:

Copy and paste the following:

Now replace where I put *Border-Color* and *Background-Color* with the name of a color or a hex color code; like #ffffff for white. After that fill in the blank line with the following syntax to add the links:

*Text shown for that link**

Click enter and repeat the process for every link you want to add. The syntax I used for the above example was this:

Example
Played-Games
Modded-Games

Wisdom's own navigation bar looks like this:

Main Page Games Modded Games Achievements Avatars

Step 4: Small Info-Boxes

Now you can navigate your pages it's time to start adding content giving viewers information about you. There are a few templates which create information-boxes; an excellent way of giving info at a glance without having the viewer read the main body. I recommend adding the following:

These templates are explained on the pages I've linked to, go ahead and use them if you want.

Step 5: Section Boxes

There are two ways to do the main body; normally by just making it as you would make any wiki-page or the complex way using templates to make it look fancier. I'm going to explain the second way this step, feel free to add the main information without this though.

Here's an example of what you can make your main body of text look like:

Example

Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla.

Example

Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla. Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla, Bla Bla Bla.

Me saying that this was "advanced" was a bit of an exageration, all you need is to add a template at the top of text you want in the box and one at the bottom. It also combines with the tabs template beautifully as it is made by the same user; UberNinja. The templates are:

UNModuleTop
*Stuff in the box*
UNModuleBottom

And voila, you've added a box around a section of your text. Here's an example of this combined with the tabs template:

Blablabla

Just make use UNTopModuleTop instead of UNModuleTop for the box under the tabs if you want to combine them. There you have it, the secret of these boxes revealed. If you want to give them custom colours you can look at the templates themselves, then make a new template based of it with the custom style you want.

Step 6: Game Tables and Statistics Tables

Games Tables

You are now well on your way in becoming a wiki-wizard. However there is still one task you must complete, to gain the level of "Apprentice".

You must create something that looks like this:

Game W/L Moderator Role Team Death / Status My play
1  Open 572: Nightless Vengeful Mayhem Win Not_Mafia Vanilla Townie Town  Town Win CUNstar.png
2  Open 573: C9++ Loss Jingle Vanilla Townie Town  Town Win DUNstar.pngUNhalfstar.png
3  Open 574: Stack The Deck Abandoned Saki Role Cop Mafia  Abandoned FUNstar.pngUNstar.pngUNhalfstar.png
4  Open 575: Friends and Enemies Loss Reinoe Vanilla Townie Town  Mafia Win FUNstar.pngUNstar.pngUNhalfstar.png
5  Open 579: Pick Your Power XY Win insanity018 Vanilla Townie Town  Town Win FUNstar.pngUNstar.pngUNhalfstar.png
6  Open 582: Stack The Deck Win Anatole Kuragin Vanilla Townie Town  Town Win GUNstar.pngUNstar.pngUNstar.png
7  Open 586: Elemental Mafia Win Malakittens Elemental Doctor Town  Town Win HUNstar.pngUNstar.pngUNstar.pngUNhalfstar.png

Looks complex doesn't it? Don't fret, that's what this part is for; explaining how to make a games table.

A games table is essentially just a table which lists all the games you've participated in. They are useful for yourself to navigate games you're in and they are worshiped by the strange folk who follow the dodgy ways of "meta".

To start with you need to copy/paste this:

UNGamesStart

UNGamesEnd

In-between these two templates we're going to put all the information for our games which I'll explain next. For every game you've played you need to fill and place another template in-between the two you just pasted. Start by putting this there:

Once you've done this you need to fill in information about the game you want to list:

 1. After the "num=" fill in a number, if you fill in "1" this game will appear at the top of the table, if you fill in "2" it will appear after "1" and so on.
 2. After the "game=" just type the name of the game.
 3. After the. "glink=" fill in the number you see in URL (always has a minimum of 5 digits) here. This is the thread number, this allows users to navigate to that game by clicking on a link.
 4. After the. "status=" fill in wether you won, lost or drew here by filling in "Win", "Loss" or "Draw". If the game was abandoned fill in "Abandoned".
 5. After the. "mod=" type the name of the game moderator.
 6. After the. "team=" fill in which faction you were. (For example "Town" or "Mafia".)
 7. After the. "role=" fill in the name of the role you had.
 8. After the. "rlink=" fill in the name of the wiki-page that describes your role the most. So if you were a "Paranoid Cop" type "Cop" here.
 9. After the. "endlink=" find the post number of the post where the mod calls the game and fill it in here. I find this but viewing the pages HTML and looking at the ID of that post, the ID happens to also be the postnumber.
 10. After the. "endtext=" say how you died or which faction won, this is up to you.
 11. After the. "myplay=" fill in a number from 0-5 (halves are allowed as "2.5" for instance.) with "5" being I played like God and "0" being I was utter tosh.

Now repeat this for all your played games and voila; you've got a games-table. The syntax I used for the example was:

UNGamesStart

UNGamesEnd
