Cosmopolitan is an Open Setup created by Realeo that consists of a split mafia faction where the first half of the mafia faction doesn't know the identities of the second half of the mafia faction. Not only does the mafia have to avoid their own elimination, the mafia must also avoid eliminating the other half of their faction.

Cosmopolitan is not a Multiball setup.

Cosmopolitan

Mechanics

  • Daystart
  • All 4 Mafia Goon are in the same faction and win together, but members of Mafia A do not know the members of Mafia B, and vice versa. Each half has a separate chat and a Compulsive nightkill.
  • The game employs Accelerated start.
  • For every mafia member killed or eliminated, the next night phase is skipped. Skipped night phases can be accumulated.
  • If either side of the mafia fails to submit a nightkill, it will be randomized.

Notes

  • If everyone is dead or this situation is unavoidable (eg. 1 PGO v 1 Mafia), the game ends in a draw between all living sides.
  • If the night phase is skipped, the mafia sides will not be allowed to utilize their group chats or perform a nightkill.
  • Due to nature of the PGO role and compulsory nightkill requirement, the game will not automatically end when the numbers of living town and living mafia players are equal.

Example:

  • If a game enters night phase with 3 VTs, 2 Mafia A, and 2 Mafia B, do not end the game since it's possible that both mafia sides kill a member of the other side resulting in 3 VTs, 1 Mafia A, and 1 Mafia B being alive at daybreak.
  • If a game enters day phase with two town players, 1 Mafia A, and 1 Mafia B, do not end the game since either mafia player can still be eliminated, also leading to a three-player ELo the next day due to the skipped night. Even if a town player is eliminated, there is still possibility for the mafia members to shoot each other, so do not end the game there either.

Moderators should remember to err on the side of caution when it comes to ending the game with players on the losing faction alive.
